Hi everyone, I allready made a couple of post, but will introduce myself here anyway :p

I'm 17 years old, and got into punk about 2 years ago, it started with mainstream bands like Rise Against, Anti-Flag and NOFX, but now I also listen to bands like Strike Anywhere and Propaghandi, and I also really enjoy other genres than punk, for example post-hardcore (I love alexisonfire and Enter Shikari). Ofcourse I also really respect and enjoy old bands like Crass, Conflict and the Dead Kennedys, as well as the Subhumans and Citizen Fish, but apart from the Subhumans I don't really like these bands music wise, so I don't listen to them as much as I read and analyze lyrics :p.
Crass' Yes Sir I will is what made me think about anarchism seriously for the first time, and the more I looked at protesters being either completely ignored or getting nothing more than a rubber stick in their face, and seeing how politicians never change a damn thing, or do what the public tells them to, I completely lost my faith in (indirect) democracy.

Something I feel very confused about is whether I can consider myself punk. I honestly believe in anarchism and do whatever the fuck I want, don't mind the mainstreams opinion, and listen to bands which are considered punk, but I don't really go to local shows or know any punks in real life, although this is also mainly because I live in a small village, and still have to go to school (call me a mindless slave if you really want to, but I do actually want to follow a higher education later, and also don't want to dissapoint my parents by screwing it all up, because they are great people and have always supported me).

I hope this site will be a great place for me to discuss philosophy, music and politics.

    hello! :D

    p.s.
what is the definition of a punk? really? is it a carbon copy littered with their own propganda and another carbon copy trying to replicate some punk band's ethics and way of dress? o_O

Haha, yeah I know. But punk is also not whatever the fuck you want it to be in my opinion, because than being a convinced facist could be considered punk, and I don't think that's exactly right :p. So yeah, it's just something very interesting to discuss :p

Thanks, I allready knew antidote, and I'll check the others out :p. So, do you have anything like a local scene or something there, or do you go to underground shows elsewhere in the country? I must painfully admit that I don't participate in the scene at all, just because of my location and age and the living cicrcumstances because of that (still go to school, live with parents etc.)

welll i allso still live with my parent but that should not matter just search hard and you will find like-minded people don't have to be punk just people you can hang with then eventually if you finish school you can move out and go to amsterdam or something and really be part of a scene :p :ecouteurs:

Yeah, I guess it's kind of like that. I mean most of my friends have socialist ideas, but a few are turning to really anarchist ideas now (mostly because I introduced them to Crass, Conflict and Subhumans, and because of my neverending speeches/rants I try to bring up everyday in school) and yeah, I guess I just have to wait for it all to get really serious :p.

    Oi!
I'm from the same town as Persona-non-Grata, yet we are almost like half of our local "scene",
so it's not too interesting in here either. I'm also living with my parents and still at high school,
but I go to as much small concerts nearby as possible, and I know some squatters in Amsterdam,
which makes it possible for us to go there in weekends, visit their anarchist library and stuff

    yeah,

The gov't made squatting illegal, but because the law allowed the police to kick someone out of his house on "accusation" of squatting,
that law was in conflict with the international human rights, so it has changed to:

-you can squat any building if it isn't used (it had to be empty for a year but that law is no more)
-The police can tell you to leave in a week and give you a €19.000 fine if you don't (or 2 years of prison)
-The Gov't is trying to find ways to ban squatting completely, but so far they failed
