    hey everyone
i am from los angeles and go to east LA college.

ok so question, really, and it bothers me, why is it that in the united states when major things happen no one does anything? like there are small protests maybe, but everyone else continues with their own individual agenda. i read about how in france (i think it was 2 months ago) they wanted to increase the retirement age from 65 to 67 and there was massive riots, and this week in london, when they announced that college tuition would increase, there was violent oppsition.

    so, what does everyone think?

just wondering (and hoping) i'm not the only one who cares about the shit that goes on here.

well my school had a protest for tuition increases, but nothing like in other countries. i think it's because we're overworked in this country....no free time or energy. and yes veganism or community farms are the best alternative for now....it's not easy though.

my school did too but it was so minimal and when we had a mini-walk out and tried to get the rest of the students to get involved they looked at us like crazy radicals and we probably only reeled like 5 more people in.
i'm sure it's other things than being overworked...we have just grown accustomed to being desensitized.

well yeah...the media has alot to do with it too. we have no exposure in recent times to things as simple as union strikes. america is very different than other countries because of our labor pattern i'd say. most jobs are just service jobs anyway....and if we strike or try to unionize we'll just get fired

5 people isn't too much, but it's better than none hehe. we had a pretty good amount for our walk out...maybe like 500. but i go to cal state long beach so there's an assload of kids anyway. the protest was super disorganized and kinda just bad though :/

heh yep....that's why it's up to us who know the truth, or at least can see through the bullshit, to kickstart some revolution...or at least some evolution. even if we are a superminority, we still have to do something.

    let's start it.

    and then
    finish it.

i am sure there are so much more people who care and fear that the worse is yet to come, and it is getting pretty bad now. they even want to start censoring the internet under the "patriot act" and the government is all feisty right now with wikileaks. damn. something must be done soon, and people better get involved. :ecouteurs:

yeah there are alot of people who are fed up with the bullshit too, but i think alot of them lack direction. the tea party, for example, are a bunch of racist right wing homophobic gun crazy bastards but are the most popular opposition to the mainstream political parties. now i'm sure there are more anarchists then tea baggers, but the media doesn't focus attention on the anarchists, unless it's about a bomb threat or school shooting. that is why we have to become the media and spread our own propaganda.

well a population of france's size is hardly comparable to america's
that's like when people compare socially democratic european countries standards of living to those of the entire u.s when it would be more realistic to just compare them to one medium sized state with "good" living standards. OH YEAH WHY IS FINLAND SO GOOD COMPARED TO THE U.S?
might as well compare russia to aspen, there's snow in both places right?
    anyhoo welcome.

yeah i hear about them alot but did not know this. odd.

how does one begin to spread their own propoganda successfully? there would have to be a collective of like minded individuals...know of any groups in the los angeles area?

and that is much true what you say. for example the host of prisonplanet radio talked about how the mainstream media always wants to interview him and he vehemently denies them. he knows if they do, they only want to make him come off as a total domestic terrorist and idiot. i know fox does this too, like anytime they show the opposing speaker, he/she will always come off naiive, uneducated, unorganized and "leftist."
    :/ :ecouteurs: :ecouteurs: :p :| :| :| :| :| :|

well i belong to no group. i actually live in orange county, i just go to school in long beach. honestly i know there's some groups in LA but i don't know of any off the top of my head. there's stuff like food not bombs and myriads of other groups all over california.

for now, i do something i call pamphlet bombing. i ride around on my bike or board and put up anarchist writings i've made in crowded areas with the hopes they won't be taken down for a while. seriously i wish i could do more but i have to work with what i have and who i know as well.
