    Hmm.... Two very different bands?

I used to like The casualties at the age of 13-14 like everyone who starts in the punk scene.... but i quickly got tired of it and never listened to music like this after i discovered anarcho-punk

Needless to say The casualties are big fashion punks. In their first years, i have heard they cancelled shows because their hair wasn't spiked... And worst of all, they come to their shows in limousine, what a fucking joke!! Limousines are for the bourgeoiserie, not for punks!!

    The casualties is WAY overrated

A lot of so called anarcho -punks perhaps spend too much time in front of the mirror, too. And I am sure you find fashion-anarchopunks in this scene, too. Perhaps their anarchism is just a fake, it seems to be more a lifestyle thing. . In our scene you find some idiots but a lot of nice people, too. Indeed, you can say the casualities are silly but you cannot see it all in black and white.

Anyway, one thing is sure is that The Casualties have nothing to do with anarchism. Their recent tentative of politization is just ridiculous...

We could compare them to The Exploited (maybe we should start a topic on The Exploited, there's a lot of stuff to say too!)

Didn't listen to Capitalist Casualties too much... but yeah, The Casualties, The Exploited... such crap. Went on a Exploited cocert once - selfish bastards, nothing more to say. And The Casualties, they look like they wear "uniforms" (and those "uniforms" aren't cheap)!
But still, I listen to them every now and then because their music isn't bad. Especially the music style played by The Casualties is still pretty satisfying for me - perfect for some easy backgorund music to go along with the day.

I put bands like this on the shitlist, but I don't ban them, I mean, it's still music that keeps us together right? - why throw it away if it's good for the ear?

why yes the casualties are a sell out annoyance that spout about theyre spikey hair and 40 oz drinking , but when i was 15 and liked them as we all once did , i had stumbled upon somewhere , probally off a cd booklet , that their singer jorge used to be a "peace punk" . i guess they are referring to anarcho or crust but this makes no sense to me ,weve all heard their songs , and ive seen pix of the band rockin DIRT AND FLUX CLOTHING , but what gets me about these fux is their old song KILL THE HIPPIES ,and the chorus is KILL A HIPPIE KILL A CRUSTY KILL EVERYONE !! and it brings hate into the scene and is just fuckin hipocritical , but i guess so is talking shit about them but whatever , he also said in an interveiw how HOT TOPIC is good for the scene , ill leave you with that

I once made the mistake of going to the first ever 'holidays in the sun' gig in blackpool, england and met this american bloke who had nowhere to sleep- I didn't have a tent at the time so i'd grudgingly paid for a b&b. Anyway- I put this guy up and it turned out he was mates with the casualties and I had the misfortune of trying to get to know them. This was in 96 and they were arrogant as fuck then and after hearing some of their tunes lately, I can imagine what a set of ego-maniacs they must be now.
I always try to think the best of people- especially young punks/skins-etc who get carried away by the hype they feel from getting into something so seminal to the changing of ones belief system, but this lot were already lost to their own 'wattie' image and had a social circle that followed them around and bigged them up 24/7.
Pricks like this are the reason punk is practically pointless now. They run to the first suit waving a wad and ultimately sell out everything and everyone for more of the same.
In my humble opinion, the casualties, and all those who emulate such mindful conformity are a set of trendy wankers. Worse actually- cos they should know better.

But dude, hating hippies is sooooo punk fking raaawkk
    (sarcasm)

Seriously, i don't understand this trend to hate hippies so badly... Looks like when you are a punk you HAVE to hate hippies...

I don't particuliary like the hippies and i don't hang out with them, but why hate them so much? They aren't harming anyone.... I think some punks don't realize we have bigger ennemies and much important issues to talk about.... Why not make a song against fascists instead of making a hippie-hate-song?

Sure the hippies aren't the type of person who would want to do a revolution with us and come fight, but they wouldn't be ennemies neither... If we're going to attack specific classes of peoples, I think we should attack the bourgeoiserie and the bosses before wasting our time with hippies...

And you mark a good point with the chorus and the referrence to killing crusties. It definatly brings useless hate in the scene.

I love hippies. They're usually pretty nice people and are pretty cool to talk with. Punks are hippies anyways. We're just a little smellier and lot louder.

My Mam was a hippie in the 60's and brought me up as an atheist with a open mind about everything except doctrine and dogma. She can fight like fuck as well! Some 'punks' think it's a safe bet to go on about hating hippies. For a start they have the stereotypical guarantee that they won't fight back- typical fucking bullies then- and besides, they wouldn't know a hippie if one stole their spliff anyway. To refer to 'crusty punks' as hippies is a generation or two out of synch with reality anyway, but as long as the boys are happy with their badges, labels and emblems they'll eventually get bored with the futility of it all and fuck off off the scene.
There's not many 'true hippies' left, but I've yet to meet one I hated to any degree- they're fairly inoffensive and almost always friendly natured- and i agree with 'extinction' when saying punks are like hippies. Almost all of punks social and political essense comes from the hippies- even early bands like the clash were anti-war/pro-peace. anti-fascist, etc and I've heard many an anti-war song from the exploited and co, (not that, that excuses any of the bulshit associated with that lot)- and if not for the hippies I doubt there'd have ever been 'punk'. I bet the casualties would feel really big and hard wading into a load of sixty year olds though!
In truth these muppets are an album away from singing about love and money. It must be really terrible having to limit the scope of your 'art' for the sake of a pay check from a record company. I wonder of they sniff glue and pierce their ears with safety pins- I know I do- i'm obliged to sniff glue and oppress state legitamised 'minorities' as I'm an 80's skinhead. Hey- maybe they'll turn hip hop an' start slappin' bitches in the 'hood?

I prefer hippies to most "punks". Most of the hippies I've ever known did cool things like live in housetrucks and at least try to live an alternative lifestyle! "Punks" these days (in NZ anyway) just seem to rabbit on about how much they hate hippies (yep, hating hippies is sooooo punk fking raaawkk), how much they love KFC and show off their latest Vans "punk shoes".

The Casualties are definitely a more enjoyable listen.
Best not to judge a bands music by their "fans". Have an open mind and a pair of open ears. Try it. You might like it.

    PS: Everyone has a uniform.

I disagree. If you like pure punk rock, what's not to like.
If they were a band from Peru with only 2 hyper rare flexis out everybody would love them....wait everybody loves them anyway right????

I don't necessarily dislike any band for the way their band members act. Hell, if any 'famous' punk walks up to me in the street I probably wouldn't recognise 'em anyway. I'm in it for the music, not for the wankers or heroes.
And to me both the Casualties and Capitalist Casualties are enjoyable, perhaps not in the same way, but enjoyable from time to time nonetheless.

I dig the rawness of the casualties music. I got a couple of their records. It's good drinking music,But the thing that kind of shits me is the whole "kill the hippies" Attitude. I see alot of hippies as family fighting for the same cause.I guess they just really want to be around in 77
