    New Face in Hell:
Swans are often considered both Post-Punk and Industrial though they are a bit atypical for both. :) great band though

I'm so sad that i'm not gonna see Skinny Puppy when they visit my country this year. It's far away, and i just don't have the money. I'm going to see Einstürzende Neubauten though which i'm looking forward to since they are one of my favorites.

    K-Townbootboy:
Well yes, sometimes. It's a little up and down i think.

    T-bag:
Gothic Metal and doom metal is actually not gothic, it's just symphonic metal music with a new label to sell better unfortunately. Goth is based in post-punk music, the music scene just after the initial wave of punk music. Actually, many post-punk and deathrock bands have a lot in common with Anarcho-Punk bands. Rubella Ballet and Rudimentary Peni are both bands that are being played on deathrock (old-school goth) clubs. Personally when i DJ, i use stuff as Zounds, Crass and Poison Girls too combined with goth rock and post-punk. Zounds are playing at Drop Dead this year, a big Deathrock festival

Only few bands that uses metal elements are part of the goth scene (Fields of the Nephilim being the only band i can think of right now), the rest is just commercial metal music with keyboards for the most part. Marilyn Manson and Nightwish is as goth as Avril Lavigne and Green Day are punk in the Goth scene :)

What most goth club plays today and call "industrial" is really not industrial either. It's just new forms of Rave music. Real Industrial isn't anywhere like it. Einsturzende Neubauten, Throbbing Gristle, SPK and such is real Industrial

So what? Doesn't make them sound any worse, just like Black Flag and Dead Kennedys being well known and easy to get into early on doesn't make them sound any worse...

Fair enough...I haven't had time to explore Goth the way I have hardcore punk subgenres or metal or anything, so while I do enjoy it (and I do have a fair amount of it donwloaded, even though I haven't listened to much of it), well I'm not DEEP into it.

not to knock those bands, but lots of people tend to ,limit themselves to stuff that is popular and dont try to branch out and see what else is out there, so maybe it's wrong but when i meet someone who claims to like punk and their favorite bands are the ones you see at hot topic, makes me wonder if it's just a fad for them or whatever. Maybe it's not, who knows, im just babbling now...

If someones like that about the music style they listen to most (or proclaim to) then yeah I can see what you mean and think the same way...though if it's kind of a side thing that one is just dabbling in-which is what goth is to me-then it isn't gonna mean anything like that. The way I am with Thrashcore, Powerviolence, Crust, D-Beat, classic hardcore, etc. is pretty much the opposite of the way I am with stuff like Goth, Shoegazer, and anything else that interests me enough to listen occasionally and that I really enjoy, but I'm not obsessive over. With the extreme punk of whatever form I am completely obsessed to like, OCD levels. No hot topic following, fad bullshit here :)

Well, Goth being my favorite genres (post-punk, goth-rock, deathrock etc. etc.), with a lot of the related genres (no-wave, industrial etc), i've digged way deeper into that than i have with hardcore punk and crust for example...
    But - I still like Bauhaus a lot! ;)

It was great, and I think for many of us older cats it's still like that....fuck divisional labels

If you ever get around to reading Rollins' 'Get In The Van' there is a pretty funny story about those guys...

There is an experimental/industrial band I recently discovered called Grotus. They have long since disbanded, and have disappeared from the face of music history, but they are one of the best bands I have heard:

Anyway, I like a billion Industrial bands.
