Food is a human right, not a privilege!
Anyone else partake in this purely humanitarian and selfless, yet illegal and terrorist organization? I cook and serve in the Saturday Seattle chapter, and it's so fucking rewarding to do.

Cooked and served tonight in San Diego, hung out with some members from Holy Holy Holy, and welcomed two newcomers to the group.....every Wednesday! :ecouteurs:

that's awesome! When I go traveling again, I'd love to stop by and help out every chapter in every town i visit. Up here, we have chapters running from Saturday through tuesday, three of which are run out of the same house. it's a cool thing.

We do it twice a week, wednesdays and fridays and maybe there will be a second group starting in another part of the city to make better use of the constant flow of donated food. Duisburg and Berlin also have groups of their own we try to contact, so the project is slowly spreading...

we don't really get food donated anymore. We get a small portion from co-op food markets, and the rest we have to dumpster.

luckily we have a handful of friends and acquaintances working part time jobs at the supermarkets and for the food not bombs group too, so they just had to ask for permission to take foods that otherwise would have been thrown away - so it's not really "donated" food, but who cares - we get more than we could actually handle and sometimes it's hard to leave stuff behind because we can't store it to use it later.
Some small and medium enterprises like the local bakery and three italian and turkish grocery stores donate bread and fruits that doesn't spoil that fast, so we can give out lunch packages for breakfast and extra vitamines, these people really do us a favor and never asked for any kind of compensation, so three cheers for them!
