Whats the point of most threads? People are just looking for something to talk about. Political philosophy threads turn into pissing matches on who can come up with the better name calling. But i really dont agree with this thread name either but ill answer it because i have computer access for a bit.

Starting a thread talking about "sellout anarcho bands" on a website called "anarcho-punk.net" can be seen as the trolling (which is a really broad term) aspect here, that guys reply is his feelings on the topic.

I swear i read somewhere that they (being whoever has the authority of it, i dont know) had sold the Crass logo and t-shirt rights or at least made a deal with Hellcat Records, so the label could sell them a couple years back.

Starting too? They came here in like 2004 or 2005 on a fucking tour bus and then complained on stage they were eating "rice" and they had no money. The singer is in a band now called Star Fucking Hipsters (not a fan), but he talks about getting older and shit in that one article, so my feelings are split on this, but seriously, acting like squatters and having money is pretty stupid.

I dont think its more so the bands as it is mostly certain members.

As for the Nausea listing on Hot Topic, you'd be pretty surprised as to what bands that company puts shit out to sell for. I dont think Nausea sold out, at least not ALL the members.

    Nausea in hot topic? D=

...I bet no one bought their stuff from there though. And I don't really care that much, still a great band, still make good points, so what if they're music becomes more widely distributed? I'll still listen to them and buy their merch.

Exactly. How do you define "selling out" ?

Some people seem to think that if you are an anarchist, if you use capitalism at all, then you are a hypocrite. (sellout?)

This is complete horse shit of course, as we cannot boycott our way out of capitalism. What is much smarter is for anarchists to use whatever resources we have available against capitalism, including using capitalism against itself. Chumbawumba had the right idea with trying to create a song that would become popular, selling that song (for a commercial?), then using that money toward anarchist ends. (I believe the money was used to fund infoshop, etc)

    Think about it.

How does that make them sellouts if they were always apolitical and did not begin making mainstream popular music?

What exactly does selling out mean? I'm pretty sure most bands never state that they don't want to make money or that they will never change their sound. 9 times out of 10, people just make those assumptions, then get angry at the bands when those assumptions are wrong. It reminds me of some festival my friend told me about where a band called the FFers got bottled because everyone thought it was the Foo Fighters under a different name, even though it really wasn't the band's fault. How about everyone just listens to bands they like with ideals that they stand for, ignore the ones that don't and stop objectifying a bands validity based on a set of rules that haven't been properly explained.
