Okay, So I'm starting a Punk band with my friend. He plays Guitar and I'm gonna do Vocals and play Guitar... We need a Bass player and a Drummer. We're both 14 and we've both wanted start a Punk band for at least a few years. So if you happen to Live in the area of Buffalo NY and you play Bass or Drums then please reply or send me a message telling me if you are interested. Some of our influences are bands like: Operation Ivy, The Exploited, GBH, The Casualties, Ramones, Black Flag, Rancid, Crass, Minor Threat, Conflict, The Unseen, Discharge, Oi! Scouts, Chaos UK, The Misfits, The Clash, The Discocks, Bad Religion, NOFX, The Specials, Dead Kennedys, The Germs, and a lot of other bands from the UK82 era and some Oi! bands.

Please tell me if you are interested... Cheers and Oi!

Do you know what diplomacy is? Instead of talking shit to these guys why don't you offer some of your age old wisdom and offer alternatives to listen to, don't be a hypocrite....yeah I bet you were born with a Contravene 7" in your hands right?

What are you talking about ? If he listens to crass, and ramones clash etc. he is hypocrite. Crass songs are made against these bands. you can just support one and the other side. Whats wrong with my question ? I think this is not the place for bands who are influenced by ramones, casualties, exploited and clash. Whatever. If he is interested why have I asked that question, he will ask me. Ill answer. no problem with that. I didnt tell him "you are shitty pop punk idiots".

What was Crass influenced by? The Clash, the Ramones, and even the Pistols. There is nothing contradictory about listening to those bands together. On "Punk is Dead," Steve Ignorant accuses the Clash of selling out. What has he done now? Exactly that. Your view of which bands are "against" which is ridiculous. Crass COULD NOT exist without those bands that you claim they hate.
The singer of Oi Polloi has mentioned that he used to love the Exploited. I know when I first got into punk, I loved "Fuck the USA," as well as some of the earlier Casualties stuff. Punkmar is right, you can't just jump from "I've never heard punk" to "Oh yeah, I think Disorder's best work was the Perdition 12 inch. Way better than their first LP."
They even mentioned that they're 14 damn years old. When I was that age, I was playing Clash and Ramones songs in my friend's basement. It took me some time to get into the less mainstream stuff that I listen to and play today, and I probably wouldn't have gotten there if it hadn't been for cool people pointing me in the right direction. If I'd been around people like you I might've said fuck it, I'll go back to Led Zeppelin.
Give people time for their music taste to mature, and respect your fucking roots.

    to trevor:
Don't be afraid to jam with just you and your friend for a bit. Go to local shows and meet some other people. Most important thing when you're starting out is just learning to play and learning to write songs. Just have fun and fuck around. When in doubt, play a Ramones song.

So you say Im wrong ? I sound like elitist snob becouse I think casualties are not punk, ramones are conservative punk ( well, they arent really punk, becouse punk isnt melody to me, its about message.), clash was singing on fuse, unseen were selling their shoes, caps, panties on concert ( they were selling it, not some other guys) etc. Im not snob, these are the facts we all know. maybe i was rude, but hey I looked up in ungovernable and you guys. I can give examples if you like. The topic riot clone, I asked whats it about, he answered "Learn to read" or something. How the fuck should I know whats riot clone, or what are you talking about ( some cds or something) and where should I read that ? I think am not the only one being rude here. Anyway, yeah its my fault, I dont want to blame others for my mistakes. Guess im an pain in the ass. But i think im right.

I love it how so many anarchists are concerned with telling people what they can't do.

Im probably going to get "flamed" for this, but this is funny. "Guys you have to belive me Im an anarhist ! ". No one here is an perfect anarhist. I myself am not 30% ( its stupid to count it in % :p).
Look its not a big deal, im listening to many of "non anarcho" maybe sell out bands. i love jazz music also, its not that im ashamed of it. but i think crass and clash dont fit. I mean, they are "againt each other".

So what if he is influenced by two opposed bands? The clash and sex pistols were opposed, yet every punk is directly influenced by them. The music you listen does not make you more or less anarchist. (what would I be then, when I listen to everything from classical era to modern day rock bands?) I'd say that even the music you play does not determine that. What matters is whats inside your head. If he says he is an anarchist, I believe him. Even if he isn't, he shows the will to be, so he will probably become one later. Unless he gets the feeling that all the anarchists are elitists bastards, and goes to join the nazis (but where would he get such a silly idea, eh?)

    On topic:
I kinda have the same problem. I jam with a friend from time to time, but bass players and drum players seem like they are impossible to find. So I go to gigs and try to meet new people, and in the same time try to improve at home and make good songs, so that I am ready when I finally find a band. So be prepared to wait for a long time to get your bend together, but don't waste your time meanwhile. I'd also recommend busking (performing in the street), for many reasons (it's fun, you practice public performance, people get to see you and hear you, you don't need a full band, and you might earn some extra cash). And don't get discouraged if it takes a while, when you make a band, all the waiting will be worth it.
