That truly sucks :( same thing happened here about two years ago in my city of Corona, place called the Showcase Theater, every band imaginable played there, and since it closed, its now hard to find good places holding shows!

well if that's the case START YER OWN VENUE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! where i live we have several pubs playing good music and there is a venue called 't beest which occasionally books some good bands but if this is not the case in your town just squat an old and big building and get the punks in your town to fix it up enough so you can let bands play there this way you can do cheap shows because you don't have to pay rent plus you can book the bands YOU like :ecouteurs:

Yeah, It's a little harder than that.

    1) You can't just squat buildings. (Especially in Portland, there is none. The city is booming.)
    2) I'm still in school. Almost done, I might try to start something when I get done, so I'll have a little more knowledge of things I can do to help.
And 3) There's still house and bar shows, just most are 21+ and there's not many of them.

it's not that you ALONE need to do something i mean if there are enough punks in your town you could round em up and try to get enough money together to buy/rent an affordable place and if you can't pay for it yourself try to collect money ask people to donate organize a benefit maybe not a gig but try and make some food and sell those or do like a sponsor run or whatever make up something to get money together and if you have enough money to buy yous a nice place to organize gigs and get it fixed up a little you can organize benefit gigs to keep it running and if you have enough people you don't even have to worry bout school because you will have all the people you need if you want something like this to happen don't just Do It Yourself .....
    DO IT TOGETHER!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

(btw i'm not trying to be an asshole here i'm really actually trying to help out :p)

    Oh, no worries, I understand.

And we have a sector of the Pyrate Punx Crew here. www.myspace.com/portlandpyratepunx
I'll probably check with them and see if there's anything I can do to help.
