    For those of you who didn't know;

Oct. 20th is LGBT Spirit Day: Wear Purple and Show Your Support

    http://www.facebook.com/event.php?eid=144778572233301

Tomorrow is LGBT Spirit Day, and people around the country will be wearing purple in honor of the teens that recently took their lives due to gay bullying.

PURPLE represents Spirit on the LGBTQ flag and that’s exactly what we’d like all of you to have with you: spirit. Please know that times will get better and that you will meet people who will love you and respect you for who you are, no matter your sexuality.

Wear purple and show support for those that recently took their lives, and show solidarity and support for the LGBT community worldwide.

Honestly I think a lot of this homophobia would go away if we stopped showing off this pride shit I mean there's no straight pride parade, right? God I hate those loud outspoken stereotypical gays nobody should know or even care about your sex life. :/

    Ohh gotta love a MANarchist...

Seriously mate you really have to be a fucking ignorant tool to blame homophobia on pride rallies and being open about your sexuality if you are not hetero.

So the many generations of homophobia was caused all by the existence of a pride movement? Shit I don't think there were pride marches in Europe/Asia/Africa/Middle East/etc all those years ago and still we were deliberately alienated, persecuted and in many other instances we were killed.

I fucking hate having to put up with pathetic overt heterosexuals kissing in the street, fucking in their cars, grinding in bars, club and on tv, plastered all over billboard advertising and then dictating to ME how I should live my fucking life.

Maybe if heterosexuals were an overall oppressed minority I would understand them having some sort of a movement but since heterosexual males tend to be the ones in control of society and set the norms and call out and pick on non-heteros, wom*n, people of colour...etc for not fitting in with their concept of normality then they don't need to have a fucking Straight Pride movement.

Let me ask you something mate, have you taken part in a Queer bashing before because the venom you spit on here sounds like you have.

Tell you what, how about I walk up to you in the street when you're walking with a woman and then start hurling abuse at you...or perhaps I watch you show affection towards another woman and me and some other friends follow you down the street afterwards and beat your brains in because you were kissing a woman. How about society and your family brings you up and pushes the belief that being a heterosexual is unnatural and a choice? How about people begin to talk about the possibility of isolating the gene that makes people into heterosexuals? How about the police go and raid your venues or criminalise heterosexual sex acts?

HETEROSEXUALS ARE NOT NORMAL....THEY ARE MERELY COMMON...

Sorry, QueerPunk, I'm still ashamed of myself and have been brainwashed into thinking gay pride parades are full of leather thong wearing psychos instead of lawyers.

These days in some parades you will see that kinda thing but who really gives a shit about that...it is just a human body, its natural.

Not ever have I seen psychos wearing that kind of gear, usually they wear army/police uniforms and business suits.

I have been involved in the Leather/Kink scene within the Gay scene/community for some time now and I wear my vest or jacket in public when there is no parade on at all...I flag in public (something that heterosexuals seem to be oblivious to for many reasons) as in wearing a particular colour bandana in either a left or right back pocket or having my chain on one side or the other.

I have no issues with anybody marching in a Pride parade either in drag or in something skimpy.

What about those Punks who just hang about all the time with their mohawks and coloured hair, chains, studs, patches, boots, piercings, tattoos...maybe if they didn't look like Punks then the police would not harass them...that is the same logic as you used in your initial post.

Just thought I would put it into context for you.

BTW, this topic isn't about "showing off this pride shit", it's about the solidarity for people in trouble - not for wearing leather thongs - but just for what they are:

"Laura McGinnis, a spokeswoman for the Trevor Project, a national organization focused on suicide prevention for lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender (LGBT) youth, told USA Today that gay, lesbian, bisexual, and transgender teenagers are four time as likely to commit suicide than straight teenagers. Eliza Byard, executive director of the Gay, Lesbian, Straight Education Network, says that 9 out of 10 LGBT youths are verbally or physically harassed."

And to demonstrate straight solidarity we are wearing purple armbands for the rest of the week and after reading your ignorant rant I say: I wear it with straight pride!
