They'll say its tradition, but its because there isn't much of a separation of church and state.
    Other questions could include:
Why do kids in school have to say the national anthem with the words "one nation under god", let along in general?
Why does some cunt have the right to say what i can and can not do with my body, because they think that all babies are gifts from jesus and sex is a sin?
Why is one of the main arguments against gay marriage is that the bible says its a sin?
Its just because people seem to like this insipid thing called religion and want to push it on to others. And we gotta keep the ass-backwards religious conservatives happy; and good citizens have faith incorporated into their daily lives.
Not to mention religion is a way of keeping people ignorant and controlled.
I'm getting wicked pissed just thinking about this, i'm going to stop before this becomes a full blown rant

Exactly. Soon the country will be run by corporations and conservatives. As soon as they vote the Supreme Court full of right wing fuckheads (WITH the corporations money, by the way. Thank's a fuck ton Target.), not even the DEMOCRATS will have a say. Let alone ANARCHISTS.

Then they'll start passing religious laws, and the world will be run by psuedo-fucking-jesus-christ and the goddamn new age KKK/NRA.

its because this country was founded on ignorance. the "Manifest Destiny" was their way of stealing the natives land and justifying it because god was in the colonies favor and wanted them to. they honor this way of thinking threw such conducts in court and religion on currency

you're an ignorant fool, the idea of manifest destiny wasnt evern coined until the early 1800's, after the USA was founded, so saying the thecountry was founded with that in mind is nonsense.

So what do you consider the United State's foundation? At that point our country wasn't even close to being complete and it'll be years before the US starts adopting a system of governing which reflects what the modern US is like. I think it's a fair assessment to say our country was founded on the belief of Manifest Destiny. Just because the term wasn't coined until the mid 1800s doesn't mean it wasn't practiced long long before. The whole idea of imperialism is inherent superiority which is what MD is.

I don't believe it because at the time the usa was started, other countries had colonies in North america, which would later become US territories, also washington dc was chosen as the capitol because at the time it was in the middle of the country. Expansionism didn't really start until around the war of 1812, and the term MANIFEST DESTINY wasn't even coined until the early-mid 1800's. Maybe i'm naive but i don't think the intention of the USA was to take as much land as it possibly could, that seemed to be started by the southern warhawks, after the louisiana purchase. It's easy to dis the founding fathers of this country, but i don't think the way the country turned out is want they had in mind, and it's also funny that groups like the Sons OF Liberty used terrorist tactics to get support for succession, and US history remembers them as heroes, where as the same tactics today make us label other groups as terrorists.

In short, the USA was a good idea in theory that turned out to be way poor in execution, and that slavery was accepted from the beginning should have been a foreshadow of troubles to come.

The only reason i even felt like arguing is MR. Dekline's arrogance and all knowing attitude. :o :o :o

It wasn't only the Warhawks, but many frontiersmen wanted new virgin land for agriculture. They thought that war would surely reward them with British controlled Canada and Spanish controlled Florida. Madison saw the taking of Canada as a good way of forcing Britain to respect neutral rights. It would cripple the food supply for Britain's west indian sugar islands, which would force Britain to end restrictions on American ships or they (Britain) would face economic collapse. So the intentions of the government only justified the peoples want for expansion. The people wanted all the land they could grab, and the government wanted to end British occupation in north america. The Imperialists and the desperate farmers were backed by patriots, leading to one of the most useless wars ever.

Back on topic, It's all in place because of America's puritan roots,
but as for why we STILL do these things... your guess is as good as mine.

I feel that they want to keep America "pure"

again, no need for insulting. You could have said he's a fool. If he thinks he's "all-knowing" then make sure you convince him that he's wrong, really no need for insults - he's new and maybe he's full of shit, but we all were, some still are :D

I don't think it's just "puritanism" or an north-american problem - after some scandals brought up by anti-
islamistic "thinkers" like sarazzin in germuney or wilders in the netherlands there is a increasing number of statements declaring christian believes as a fundamental part of the "european lead-culture" coming from across the whole right-wing-spectrum.
The polish nationalist movement has serious catholic roots from the beginning, culminating with catholic priests usurping Auschwitz as the largest jewish cementary and declaring it as the golgotha of the catholic poles, decorating the whole place with their crosses to symbolize their anti-semitism.

Religion always pretends to stand "above" politics, so it's the ultimate tool to rally all people who turned their back to "politics" and it's inherent conflicts and contradictions.
I guess I don't have to mention that this is just a way to manipulate even the otherwise unwilling, because it appeales to the basic lines of identity in a society one is born into without an alternative.
The tendency of western societies to draw on this basic is mirrored by the eastern islamic fundamentalism, uniting everybody under one symbol, one culture, one law always made up by the almighty and his worldly representative... :ecouteurs:

Knowing only a little about the european emigration in the 19th century I would agree that "america" was a dream for hundreds of thousands of suppressed and poverty-condemned peasants of the regimes especially in Ireland and Germuney. Some germun historians claim that the declaration of independence was influenced by the declaration of rights made up around 1705 by bavarian insurgents fighting against the austrian occupation during the spanish war of succession.
America was a big hope then, but it turned sour...

Too bad that it's really serious, the most notorious weirdhead they have in poland is:
"On the march (around 20.09.2010 in Warzaw) was 79 year-old far-right activist Kazimierz Switon, who attracted international media attention when he was arrested in 1999 for possession of explosives during his protest against crosses being removed from outside the Auschwitz death camp museum site, placed their to commemorate a visit by John Paul II."

    http://www.thenews.pl/national/artykul1 ... oland.html

    http://www.concordatwatch.eu/showtopic. ... r_id=37231
Concordate watch about crosses in general and polish ones in particular

    http://www.independent.co.uk/life-style ... 86264.html - the independent UK

YouTube has quite a few of his public appearances and I'm still searching for a painfully detailed article written by polish comrades about his doings in Auschwitz and other former concentration camps, allied with bonehead groups from all over the east and always first crusading against jews and minorities - he's only the public spearhead mostly tolerated by the official church... :ecouteurs:

I'm surprised about not knowing about this, thanks so much for the heads up. I will be contacting SPLC with your post if you don't mind Gobbledigooks....maybe they can look farther into this guy and his ties to church and the far right and at least make people here more aware of him.
