Hey all, I recently removed my patches from my leather jacket (the patches were coming off) and I was wondering, what would you say is the best way to get color on the jacket? I have a white pen, and I already wrote the outline for the images I want with the white pen, but I want to fill them in with color. What is the best way to d this?

I have almost no money, I have a bunch of video games but I dont have anything to play them on, so I was thinking about selling those to my local game store. Do any of you know if that will be enough for some paint? (I think they are older games, like for Xbox 360..but not new ones)

I've always used acrylics. Not sure how much it costs. Always stole it from Michaels. Make sure to clean dirt and shit off your jacket first. Same principle as washing shit out of your hair before you dye it.

You need to use screen printers ink. You can get it at michaels in small tubes. Works better than acrylics as it is specifically designed for fabric/leather.

I just used a paint brush ($2) and acrylic paint ($4). It has worked extremely well, can withstand a fair amount of damage. I just painted straight onto the jacket, you may want to clean it before and that is about it.

i got my shit from the dollar store. it costed liek 5 baucks for paint and a few brushes. i draw my outline ussuly in chalk to get an idea and then i slowly erase and paint the outline. then just fill in. you need to do quite a few layres depending what your painting. which has been annoying me becasue i need to add layres to a new jacket i been working on but it have been lazy.....just put on a movie or some music get comfy with soem juice or what ever and away ya go.

don't sell your games to a store. places like gamestop rip you off pretty badly. better to sell them to friends or on ebay or something.

silk screeners ink or acrylics are both great. A good stencil helps too. I dont know about leather jackets as I dont own one. i have a poly cotton dickies work jacket and acrylics work fuckin great on that. Silk screeners ink would probably be your best choice as acrylics work the best on very porus material. Patches are okay, but why not make your own, I do. D.I.Y OR DIE my friend. Good luck with the project!

DO NOT USE SILK SCREENING INK FOR LEATHER. IT WILL WEAR OFF!

FOR LEATHER,USE HIGH QUALITY MATT SPRAYPAINT (not glossy.it will look like shit) SPRAY PAINT IN A LITTLE CUP AND USE A BRUSH

Help! How to paint on leather jacket

Help! I bought a leather jacket in a shop which had to get rid of their motor clothing, this one costed me less than I would have to pay for a second hand one (I found €80 quite much for a second hand jacket...). it is a new one, so the leather is completely smooth black and clean.

I want to paint some band names and symbols on my jacket,
but I don't know what paint, how I should perhaps make any preparations on the leather etc...

    could anyone help me?

I've used acrylic. Painted a big Crass logo on the back of mine a year ago, and it's still looking cool. A bit have been worn off, but it wasn't done that well, it was the cheapest acrylic paint (2-3 dollars) and it looks a little awesome when it's worn!

Do what a lot of the thrashers used to do over here in Australia. Get a demin jacket and take the seelves off. Put it over the top of the leather jacket, put all your studs, patches and artwork on the denim jacket. Leather stays pristine, you can change the patches/studs whenever you like and it's a helluva lot easier to sew/stud/clean etc.

The idea with the denim jacket is quite nice as well =)

Maybe the paint will stay on leather longer if I use fine sandpaper first?
