yesterday i had some free time so I thought about fashion.I went to the internet and searched some stuff I realized that fashion is bullshit just becouse of one reason : money.
dr. martens, lether jacket, and all the metal things and whatever I dont know hows that called on english, pants etc. Half of the punks (if not more) are poor students or adolts and they are buying that stuff for much money - they could live for about mounth for that money. I mean here (in Croatia) dr. martens cost let me think in euros..about 125 (with 8 holes). and leather jackets about 80 euros. I was in prague this week and I saw a belt with bullets that costs 2200kc and thats about 90 euros! I mean wtf ? i hate when I see that kind of punk. so I find the easiest way to buy/steel/make clothes. Chinese stuff  I can steal in chinese market, and if I got cought I can buy that thing for cheep price. I know its not a good quality but hey its cheep. but anyway I dont like fashion anymore

Stole my dad's leather jacket, bought some pants of my mate for a pack of tobacco, raided my dad's old army clothes from when he was drafted for training, got a 400Euro coat for free from my neighbors (Australian cowboy-looking thing, including a hat :D), etc, etc.
The most expensive thing I wear are combat boots, which cost me 90 bucks and will last me a couple of years XD

Most of my clothes come from thrift stores, army surplus stores, or hand me downs. The only issue i have come across is finding my size (but its easy enough to take things in). My winter jacket was $30 at the army surplus store and my other one was given to me by a friend because it was too small for her. I got my bullet belt on sale for $25 due to a small defect. All my jewelry is handed down. A have a pair of vegetarian combat boots that set me back a good $95 bucks, but their comfy and fit well.
Bakica i believe the small metal things you're referring to are studs and spikes (?) (sorry if you meant something else). Anyway, they do get pricy. I find its best to buy them in bulk or look for sales on odd sized bulk (sometimes studs and spikes does that).
I try to make clothes, I've made jumpers out of oversized band shirts and overall straps and have tried to make skirts and dresses. Other then that, i can make patches fairly well.

Yes indeed. I couldn't find a black one secondhand so I just picked up a blue one and used original Rit dye. You'll have to do it a few times, though. But it's a ton better and cheaper than buying a new one.

Anyway, thoughts on the thread: WHen I was in high school I used to dress all core. Boots, skinny jeans, mohawk, facial piercings, leather jacket, etc. But I honestly never felt comfortable looking that way. Kind of a bummer that it took me so long to realize that I really didn't have anything to prove in that manner. I for sure dig when folks can pull that look off and be confident with that look, though. It's just not me. Nowadays I probably look alot more like a redneck (hahaha) than a punk save for my band tees, couple of dreads, and tatts. :p I still rock my charged vest every now and then, but I keep it more as a nostalgia piece. I do alot of hiking, conoeing, and generally spending alot of time in the woods so practicality and comfort is really key for my wardrobe. Much respect to the younger punks kids, though. I'm seeing fewer and fewer these days. Which brings me to another sorta related question. Has anybody noticed that the whole screamo / metalcore thing seems to be overtaking high school kids? I' seeing less and less mohawks and more black sweeps on young kids. Maybe that's just in my area.

probably should bleach the jacket before dying it, then it will take the dye better.

I just got a black jean vest second hand... Since it was originally a jacket but when he went to turn it into a vest he cut across the back seam instead of the sleave seam... Easy fix. They tend to pop up at thrift stores - atleast around here.

ya fashiom sux i used to be into it reall bad i used to look like some emo kid long hair skinny jeans and emo band shirts but then i started listeing to bad religion nofx casualties etc. found this site read lots i had known about anarchy from years before but never really informed myself but i did the most fashion "punk" things i would have is a mohawk i put up like once every other week and a anarchy shirt i told myself i was gunna inform myself before any fashion bullshit this site tought me alot listend to alot more punk music folk crust and techno for some odd reason i still wear skinny jeans but i said fuck fashion i dont need the attention of other people. going off topic here but it seems that alot of "big punk" bands like the casualties and the exploited look like they dress major punk yet they are mainstream and sellouts then you got conflict crass the parisans nofx and bad religion that look like they dress nowhere to "punk" yet they have some of the most anarcho-punk music sound/lyrics. so i dont like fashion but as long as you have your morals and veiws look like whatever the fuck you want:DD

I was at this Punk Rock Picnic show in Irvine that was a all day event and like, halfway through the day im with my friends walking around the site the show is taking place at, and I am wearing my cheap Doc Martins (Im poor, I dont really have enough money for the nice ones made in england) and some kid that couldnt be passed the 4th grade with a Rancid shirt and a social D back and like a 15 inch tall mohawk comes up to me and is like (in the most snobbish tone) "are those steel toed? are they made in englad". im just like "no" and he says back "Oh these ones are steel toed and made in england and I have another pair that are steel toed coming the mail" and he RAISES HIS FUCKING NOSE AT ME and walks off.

I blame that mess on his parents, I bet they are a elitest as he is.
