never saw them but found em shortly after New Wave came out, definitly like their old stuff better

I havent seen them though, but have been wanting to

heard though that most of the time for concerts, they play a lot of Reinventing Axl Rose stuff

yeah, I was very disgusted by the video too, however I still do listen to them, even though they arent nearly the best, but w/e its my prefrence, dont view them as punk at all anymore

but favorite part is this from meta critic about their newest album

Am sad to see them release stuff like this, oh well, guess its time to move on

they've been pretty bad for a long time. however at one time they were really good and seemed to stand for something.

it doesn't even bother me that they went to a bigger label. if they would have stayed loyal to their cause it could have been a great way to inform and inspire kids that might never hear about anarchy. it sucks that they are ashamed of their past and the ideals that they once had. they changed their sound and their message and now they are utter shit. i think their aversion to being associated with the anarchist community comes somewhat from the extreme backlash and abandonment they got as soon as they signed to a fat records, which was immature and reactionary.

Is it bad I enjoy this song?

Against Me! obviously has an infatuation with anarchism and anarcho-punk.
They have a song called "Those anarcho punks are mysterious" (don't know if this was mentioned already)
But "I was a teenage anarchist" truly is a great disservice to anarchism.
Totally leading kids away from revolutionary thinking.

look, its not "bad" it just "Ok they have anarhist opinions, so they are anti-capitalist right? so why the hell they earn fucking money on their music, videos, cds etc." They have failed us on a very first step. like most of anarcho punk bands do.

I'm of a slightly different oppinion, did Tom Gable and Against Me! sell out? No. Their political ideals simply changed. Anarchism, unfortunately, cannot work for everyone forever.
What amazes me is how a song like this is so highly abused, whereas I never hear a bad word spoken about Anti-Manifesto by Propagandhi which expresses a similar sentiment. I do think Against Me! has lost some of their soul but as far as I'm concerned they are still a quality band.

Actually, I did that a couple of years back on my birthday. This bloke was just standing at the top of Oxford Street by Tottenham Court Road Station when he was suddenly jumped on and 'gripsed' by this cop. As far, as I could see the guy was doing nothing wrong, literally standing there almost staring into space (he may have been on something), so I tried to seperate the two of them. Next thing I know, I'm on the floor having been rugby tackled by another cop. I was pretty stunned. By the time I'm back on my feet the guy's in some sort of stress hold and being carried by about six of the police into the back of a wagon. I had words but the police ignored me and the friends I were with pulled me away (I couldn't really afford trouble because of previous). Took a couple of beers to get my nerves back to normal.

Anyway, can't comment on this band without resorting to language that offends folk on this forum. Just say it shows how fairweather a band is when they can write 'Baby, I'm an Anarchist' and end up where they are. Funny how they 'grew out of anarchism' while I 'grew into it'.
