This is an announcement made this month from the autonomous indigenous Triqui peoples in Oaxaca

    (Re-translated to a semi-understandable version by me)

Indigenous peoples, the media, human rights organizations, social, democratic and left, social activists, human rights defenders who are committed to the people, women, men who build lives with their actions and words, that fight and walk with the poor, with indigenous peoples to which others would impose a policy of extermination.

    The other campaign

For all of you brothers and sisters.

We the people who decided to build the Triqui autonomous municipality of San Juan Copala want to say to each one of you brothers and sisters that we are the ones who own these lands where we live, where our parents and grandparents were born, where we have always lived since before memory and have always buried our men, women, and children who trusted our words and our mandate to uphold justice, truth and freedom, the dream of autonomy that we have seen today is the only way to true peace and resistance but also to emancipate against tyranny, against the power and the chiefdoms of those who want to decide the fate of our people, like many other people have during 518 years of killing, plunder and colonization.

It pains us to say and accuse those who for so many years of struggle were our comrades, our once brothers of MULT which today are in collusion with the corrupt government and murderers like Ulises Ruiz Ortiz. Those of corrupted power, controlling networks, drug trafficking, the organized crime of Jorge Franco, and the regional chief Carlos Martinez who was placed in power by the Popular Unity Party Tlaxiaco and is now a deputy (representative) elected by the PRI, the links with the leaders of the administering UBISORT, from the Secretary of Government where Erilberto Evencio Martinez makes decrees that result in the deaths of our brothers, Timothy Alexander and his wife Cleriberta who were an obstacle to them and to their large business agenda, because they kept the dialogue open to build a lasting peace from below, with the people, and not through rotten leaders or organizations, they were as seeds, walking on this land.

We say to you, and you can verify this by opening your heart and looking beyond a revolutionary discourse, that one just has to see who endorses Ulises Ruiz and the Popular Unity Party and those that try and exonerate the crimes of 2006. Who exonerated the attack of April 27th on the convoy where the comrades Betty Carino and her Finnish companion Jyri Jaakkolawas were killed? Who exonerates the state, for the murders of Timothy Alejandro and his wife Cleriberta, in San Miguel Copala? Where the UBISORT 'leadership' conspired with MULT to murder 11 people, where the community under siege, and guarded by the state police seized control of communities in Stalinist-like fashion, just look at who the MULT-PUP imposed on it's people as a candidate for the governorship? A Spanish woman from the P.A.N., a professional politician, she has held various public offices in state governments, aren't they the ones from the political ruling class that have governed so poorly and refuse to leave power? Who have made these decisions for our people? It is once again the politics of violence. We are not lab rats, why not say that the one behind the scenes, designing the newsletters that are beating us with their thoughts is Rogelio, clerk of the complacency of the leadership of MULT.

We want to tell colleagues that after nine months of silence our word is, enough! We try to find a mechanism to reach peace agreements, and their only answer is the gunfire that has killed innocent people. Our people now living in a hostile and depressing place, are tired, but our words will not be silenced, so we make a plea to all to listen and document everything, you will see that those who were once men to be respected, are today corrupted assassins, who are only stalking to kill us, we make these men responsible for the lives of the people of the MULT Copala, how we wish they had let the much needed food enter instead of the police, whose only objectives were to brutalize and hurt our little girls and women.

It is also announced that we will travel to Mexico City with the requirements and the mandate of the people to demand justice for our sisters and brothers, to exclaim to the Mexican state that in our communities, international conventions such as the 169 are violated, we will seek to demonstrate against PGR to bring resolution to the Betty Carino and Jyri Jaakkola case , and to welcome the family of Jyri Jaakkola who are traveling from Finland to Mexico, and to invite them to travel to the region to listen to our people, our pain and our struggle.

We women are not spoils of war, we are the ones who maintain and nurture the autonomy of our people.

Enough of State aggression against the Municipality.

We urge the leadership of MULT to stop assaulting the Municipality and our community and to stop killing our people

Our struggle is and will be for autonomy and self determination of our people, from bottom left.

We call upon all communities to join us and fight for respect, justice and democracy

    Sincerely,

    Autonomous Municipality
    San Juan Copala, Oaxaca, Mexico
