Im sorry, but I never did much research into Nazism and Nazi Germany until just tonight. I always knew they were sick and racist, and I very much hated the nazism. But almost in a way because I knew it was bad...but I didn't know why, So I did some research. I kinda just gotta rant on about how fucked up this is. It's very sad how a whole NATION could have been been (almost) universally Racist, Elitist, and Homophobic. It sickens me how these people can be so demented and sadistic. Especially Josef Mengele and all the Dr.'s "Medical Research and Experimentation". This world is absolutely ugly and we all know it. Sorry guys, I know im late on the whole nazi hating thing...but I really had to get that off my chest. Oi! =D
I think that the Nazis wanted to blame their WW1 defeat on Jews, Gypsies (?), Homosexuals etc. Similarly to what is happening now in USA with everyone blaming illegal Mexican immigrants for everything. I dunno...just my opinion.

When you have as much power by using propaganda the way Hitler did, creating such monster-like society isn't too hard. Survival mechanisms make it very easy to make one person hate another (which is also why I think that creating an anarchist society requires a lot of education for the people all around) Germany was in a period of great poverty and "national" shame (lost the 2nd world war, a huge dept to pay and giant inflation). He pointed out a scape-goat, offered people jobs (army and its industry), used propaganda in a very nasty way and there you go. I also believe that in time it's even possible for a 1st world country to fall back into Nazism once again... Capitalism uses the very same instincts as Nazism. (I am from the Netherlands, the famous Geert Wilders is a populist of about the same proportions, only on a smaller scale)
I think you answered your own question. Its enogh to say they were racist, homophobics, and had an idea of ideal race, living on land thats not theirs, but they thought it was. Of course, it always better to know our enemey. They just dont make sense. Hitler said that Yugoslavs ( or whatever its called on english, the people that came from asia and are living on south of Europe now) should be killed, but half of them could have been left alive just to serve his race ( by the way, I am from south of Europe, Croatia so I know how its like here ) and today, some skinhead around here, who are Yugoslavs, are representing themselves as nazis, witch means, they want to kill themselves...Or better, some, gypsys ( googled that word on english, not sure ) are nazis, but nazis are against gypsys, gays, jews, other races and stuff. Nazis ARE sick, or they just want to be part of something big ( nazis movement, unfortunally, is big) so they become so called nazis, but they are just stupid fucks who dont have anything to do in their life. And yeah, I have seen their forum, stormfront, and read some things, and its interesting, some guy claims that 3% of population in Croatia (which means, like, less then 15 000) are jews, and that they are DESTROYING out country, and we should get rid of them. not even the majority of germany was racist during WWII, and most of the people on hitler's side were following him just because of the fear or because they were forced to... others were indictrinated and brainwashed.... if the whole germany was racist, then nazism wouldnt have stopped after hitler's death, someone else would have took his place dont put all the german people in the same bag.... most of them are victims
i agree that holding all german accountable is wrong, however it is important to remember that the "i was only doing my job" defense didn't fly at nuremberg. Wouldn't be accepted by me in a similar situation.
True, after the Entnazifizierung there weren't much problems with nazism anymore, Germany also never had any large scale trouble with movements of such ideology, though Austria did (and Austria never got "Entnazifiziert")
Not quite. As Ungovernable pointed out most Germans weren't any of those things. The whole operation was based on fear. They did as they were ordered and never stopped others because if they spoke up or refused they would get shot. The one who got shot because they spoke up were treated as an example for others. They weren't just afraid of Hitler, they were afraid of the dark side of human nature. But some did speak up. Even a high ranking officer once tried to kill Hitler. I believe his name was Stauffenberg. If you are wondering how it could've gotten this far you should watch "The Wave". It's an oldie but still a great example of how easy the human mind can be corrupted. Oh and Hitler didn't just rise up and took control, he was just part of the government and was Democratically chosen bij the German people. Germany is a relatively new country assembled from smaller regions and he adressed their wish to unify, to feel as one nation. He made the people feel needed and valued. Little did they know... Well hind-sight 20/20 eh? I'm Dutch too and the less said about that small-minded fluffball the better, but some part of me wants him to get into the coalition. That way we can all see his -ahem- 'brilliance' and hopefully next time people will think about their vote a little more. It seems to be the tendency that when left fucks up, people move to the right and vice-versa. But seeing the way he tries to avoid actually getting in the coalition and aims for the biggest opposition I take it he knows about the effect his seat in the coalition will sort and is trying very hard to avoid that. He is smarter than I thought, but that wasn't much of a stretch.
What we have got to realise about "Nazism", racial fascism, neo-fascism etc, etc, ETC!, is that it is(and was) an ideology. Not a nation of people, an individual nor even a politcal party/organisation. The ethos behind it rears its ugly head constantly and in all walks of life, ethnic groupings and geographical areas. Here in the UK, the EDL (English Defence League) blame all of societies ills on Islam and its followers: even though it proclaims to be anti-extreme Muslimist. By the same score, Anjem Choudary and his disciples blame the "West" for the plight of the Palestinians under Zionist oppression. @Anxiety: That meens, that people who had been (or are) nationalsocialists shouldn´t be able to their inhuman work anymore. But the problem was and is they did it any other party saying "We didn´t know anything". So the Scum integrated in society untill now. Spreading their fascist ideas to the youth. Nazi-Skinheads have been a huge problem in the late 80´s and 90´s. Today so far, situation is getting worse. Hamburg got a great scene of "free comradeships" "Autonom-Nationalists" and other scum. But Antifa-scene is gettin rid off the Hippieism, so they get smashed every weekend One fight, one sttruggle!
