hmm.. its probably gonna take awhile to get it handheld and especially for anyone to actually get it of course assuming that the article/info was correct on it being an infrared laser, as yeah laser modules are expensive, especially when your talkin in hundreds of watts not milliwatts.. o well thats when people start bringing tazers

 

It's gonna end up with a battlefield everytime - tazers, heat guns, all that stuff.

Apart from that, nobody knows the exact damage that a microwave oven can give - some claims it can give cancer, what about those weapons then?

Also i think it's a very important remark at the end of the article - how can we see it has not been abused?

aww man ungov you just put a scary thought in my head. a cop standing over your heatgunnaing your face and close range. laughing his ass off as your on the ground yellign in pain.

i wonder what long exposure would do? the guy said the record a person was in the sights were 4 seconds. what if you can leave. what is it like after 10 seconds or even a 60 seconds. can you heat up enough to really light on fire? would it melt your skin? cause serious damage? what about clothing? can that light on fire? poor prisoners of guantanimo bay...they would make easy testers....

this seems alot like the anti missile defence i saw on discovery. they were aiming a highly concentrated infered beam at incoming missiles to blow them up. it works on plains also. im sure it would do a number on human skin...

well microwaves send out high voltage electro magnetic waves thru a magnetron i.e. people have made guns from them and they pretty much have no power at all have to be within like 5 feet for it to do anything, like you can light up a light bulb from all the magnetic waves if you put it right in front of ray gun, but the military one as they say is an infrared laser, so all its emitting is light/heat tons of light, but no electricty, probably wont cause cancer like a magnetron would, skin cancer is a possibilty though probably could melt skin or w.e. if it was hot enough, idk if they shoot you in the face dont close your eyes then when you go blind you can blame them.
