i am stuck in a sticky spot. i currently have 2 full time jobs and have to pick one. they are both renovation jobs. working on apartment buildings and other jobs around montreal.

the first one i have had for a little while now. each day is 12 hour days. 5 days a week and week ends when ever i want. i get paid 10$/h under the table to there is no taxes. the bos is nice picks me up every day before work at a metro closest to the job site. he is teaching me alot and helping me get good at working and at french. since it is under the table i get no csst. whioch means if i get hurt while working i get no money while i am recovering and no job security.

the other one. is renovating an apartment building that some chick bought. it is 8 hour days each day and 5 days a week. the pay is 12$/h over the table. which emans i get money taken off from taxes and shit. the money taken off also goes twords csst so if im hurt i get my full pay while i am recovering. the bos is just as nice and willing to help me learn as the first job and the people are all the same level of cool. the over the table pay will take quite a bit of money off. but each year i will egt tax returs, saved vacation pay and i will be able to declare money wqith the bank and gain credit. which i can then use to maybe get a car loan if i ever choose to go down that path.

i cant choose. the first one i come out with more money at the end of the week but less personal time. the second on i get less cash but more personal time. and protecting from job site injurys. but that come at a sacrifise of a few hundred bucks each check...

what do you guys think...i am havign one hell of a time choosing and i gotta chose by pretty much thursday latest... :/

You should probably stick with the second one Rb, but I do see your dilemma. Little bit less cash and more personal time plus some kind of benefit as far as a return and workers comp. is a better deal. Your taxes in your case will be like a savings account because you don't make enough.....

Gotta agree with punkmar here. Plus if you do get hurt with your first job, you are going to regret it. You will obviously lose both incomes for a while. I say it isn't worth the risk imo.

since this thread is about jobs and not being able to choose, this wont seem completely off topic.. I am in a situation where if i don't choose to get an actual job (i currently work for myself, but business has been godawful this past year) I'll be homeless. Not a great choice either.

I agree with punkmar, stick with the second job. Plus in the unfortunate case that you do get hurt, you'll get full pay and be covered.

alright so i chose, i am going with the second job. there is more room for advancement. and the health coverage is alwase nice when working with saws and sharp stuff and electricity and all the other dangoures fun stuff that goes with renovation. also they are working on become a licensed comapny which means i will be able to get my 150 hours declared and then i can join a union. once that happends i can work on construction sites and get paid 20-30$ minimum. which would be nice dont you agree.

now i gotta call the other boss and figure out how i am going to meet him so i can get my tools and a days pay that they owe me

How much time does your business consume time wise? If it isn't that much then I would probably get a part time job to help increase the income, hopefully you will get lucky with your business while you work then you can quit the part time. If it does consume your time to the point where you can't work part time, I would definitely consider suspending your business or closing down (only if it is really going badly and you don't see much improvement for the future) and getting another job (you could even re-open your business if you get enough funding), you just don't want to end up homeless because it will be much harder to get back on track.

Advice may seem obvious but meh.

drop both jobs and sell drugs...

no seriously, if i were you i'd take the job with the csst insurance, especially if you work in the renovation.... just immagine you get injured and you cant work for the rest of your life, you will be totally fucked and have absolutly no income and no help from insurance ... An accident happens quickly, and you can become handicaped..

i sold weed all through high school. i dont think i can ever go back. alwase hunting dealers and debts and the stress and bull shit of having to work with other people and rely on other people. which you cant do as much as your need to when selling dope. sellign drugs is just a hassel when your not in high school.

ya i went with the one with the csst. but my boss told me enless im pretty hurt they are not going to claim it. becasue the boss will get some fine if i declare it since she does not have the proper lisence. but im still covered which is kick ass. oh ya i gotta cvall them get my card from them....
