....oh fuck the riaa. if these companies are obsolete, they're obsolete, and they need to evolve or die--end of story. I love that the government that's supposedly "by the people, for the people" continues on its steady march to make all of its people criminals. CONSUME or be FINED. One way or another, they're getting their money, even if their entire industry is run on the revenue generated by frivolous multi-million-dollar law suits. fuckers.

"According to the Obama administration, the RIAA, and MPAA, the world economy is pretty much doomed if we don't start prosecuting pirates at home and abroad."

...really? it's hilarious how ridiculous that statement is.

    i completely agree.

it's funny, my father had a student who was caught downloading illegally on itunes, i guess when they imported the files onto itunes they detected it as an illegal download. he was horribly fined, i can't remember what the amount was but it definitely wasn't something you could brush off.

exactly. some woman in minnesota was fined 1.9 million dollars for illegally downloading 24 songs last year. it's so completely absurd that it's even a real issue to begin with, but to fine someone such an extreme amount of money is just insanity.

i can kind of compromise and say that it could potentially be a problem if you're trying to make music as your career and you want to survive but i don't think that illegal downloading really is as big of an issue as they make it and i don't think it should be a problem we put a lot of time and energy into because there are other larger issues in this world and our country. i don't really download music just because i like collecting albums, etc. but to be fined a million dollars is completely absurd. and the way they do it is completely unfair as well because not every single person is being punished, its just random. so you could be that poor fool who gets caught or you could download everything on the net and be fine.

i could understand someone who is in a relatively unknown/underground band being upset about someone downloading their music if they're using it as their primary means of income. i personally try to support as much as i can by collecting vinyls, e.t.c. on the other hand- if you're some major pop star or something that brings in millions of dollars of revenue, not even counting actual music sales, and you're up in arms about some random kid somewhere downloading a couple of your songs, that's just ridiculous and selfish. it's just a huge waste of time.

yeah, agreed. they have enough to spare, i don't think they're really missing anything. they don't need it. no one needs that much money. but it seems to be those in high wealth that starts throwing a fit when they're not getting everything.

Man, using people's names as Acronyms for generic phrases, and ridiculing an individual because his name way rhyme with an incriminating word or phrase. (Just as they are calling Barrack Obama a terrorist sympathizer because his middle name is Hussein, or his last name sounds like Osama.)
Is such a lousy Right-Wing, smear campaign fear tactic. No intelligence behind it at all.

And real anarcho to use right wing fascist and racist rhetoric against a single person in the State's apparatus...when you do that, you align yourself to their 'cause' whether you agree with them or not.

Bash Obama, but utilizing someone name as a tactic because it is easy to assimilate with incrimination is just rudimentary.

left wing right wing who cares, it's all a bunch of shit. Obama is a pathetic piece of shit, just as bush was. Another money and power hungry fool. It really surprises me that on an anarcho website anyone would say that any politician deserves any type of respect at all.
