'The Anarchist Cookbook' is an instructional book written by William Powell. Published in 1967, the book was written to protest the United States government over their involvement in the Vietnam war. The book contains recipes and instructions for the manufacture of explosives, drugs, rudimentary telecommunications hacking devices and other dangerous and illegal items. Many scholars of anarchism dispute the association of the book with anarchist political philosophy. Note: the moderators decided to remove the link - This book has nothing to do with anarchism - Most of the recpies are bogus - This book can get you in serious trouble - See the critics in the replys note: I havent read it my self but it looks interesting note: this isnt about food
DO NOT USE THIS BOOK. The explosives described in this book will fail tremendously in the event you try to use them. I've also heard it's specualted that this book was actually written to sabotage anarchists. If you are looking for quality descriptions on explosives I'd reccomend 'Steal This Book' I've read some pretty in depth descriptions on the creation of explosives in that book.
I've used recipes from this book before and they have worked for me. The one about creating a smoke bomb that takes up a whole block is pretty good. BUT , BUT a LOT of the recipes do have to be tweeked a little. I dont know, i also just know how to make bombs and certain things in general. PLUS there are a lot of informational sites out there on how to make most of the stuff found in the anarchist cookbook. Steal this book is pretty good too!
the writer of the anarchist cookbook stated afterwards that he wasn't proud of the book and wanted it to stop being printed, because he only wrote because he was angry at the time. Steal this book is fairly good, but it was written about 20 years ago, and some of it only applies to America, but it is still an interesting read. here's a link for the online copy of it: http://www.tenant.net/Community/steal/steal.html also try Recipes for Disaster: an Anarchist Cookbook by CrimethInc.
I'd recommend steal this book, it's a fun read. No experience of the anarchist cookbook though or explosives.
This book is fucking stupid. A while ago i had a text on my computer written by serious anarchists who were critizing the book... They are not real anarchists, and shit like this decredibilise anarchists... Also i have read another review explaining that all the explosive recipes in the book are stolen and they are also incomplete... so yes it's dangerous to use it, the writters doesnt even know what they are talking about and a lot of recipes are incomplete or wrong... this book is stupid, it is preaching chaos and destruction not organized anarchism...
Holy fuck. Never thought id see this here, first time i was ever arrested the cops found this book. Not fun
ya i remember getting susp[ended from school for having a copy. i just bought it from my buddy for 5$ in grade 8. then security happen to search my locker for drugs the same day. so they confinscated the book before i could even read it...i was pissed bujt like alwase i was a step ahead of them and had no dope on me.
I read a copy of this book and even in it's day I can't think that it would have been too accurate or impressive.
Yeah, the anarchist cookbook is dodgy as fuck. If anyone's into reading moar accurate guides to violent insurrectionist anarchism, I'd recommend Johann Most's 'The Science of Revolutionary Warfare'. Good luck finding it but
FOR FUCKS SAKE PEOPLE! ! THERE IS MORE THEN ONE "ANARCHIST COOKBOOK"!! I bought this book and it doesn't have anything to do with making bombs! Do your research before talking bollocks. www.crimethinc.com/books/rfd.html
If you want the real shit look for military manuals. A friend's father was in Vietnam in Special Forces and had all these manuals. Some really crazy shit. One of my personal favorites was "Improvised Incendiary Devises". Learned how to make all kinds of fun stuff. Thermite is really fun stuff. Easy to make too, if you know where to look for ingredients.
whats the point of an anarchist cookbook that DOESN'T tell how to make bombs? sounds like a cheap attempt at cashing in on that name if you ask me...
I have the crimethinc. book. and it's not called the anarchist cookbook, that is only the subtitle. and it tells you how to do alot of d.i.y stuff, not just protest stuff. it's an interesting read =]
this one was the first and the most notorious one. also, this stupid book should be deleted from anarcho-punk.net
