it has been noted in the thread 'Guns and anarchist society', that arming yourself in case of the Zombie Apocalypse may be a worthwhile endeavour.

If nothing else, there seems to be general consensus in said thread of the validity, and dare i say necessity, of heavily armed and well trained anarchists to deal with the coming zombie insurrection.

Thus, i feel it necessary, following anarchism's desires to combine word and deed, theory and practise, to open space on this forum through which i hope a new praxis shall emerge. This new praxis (or P.A.Z- Praxis Against Zombies, as i shall now refer to it) will illuminate the correct revolutionary perspectives for dealing with the coming onslaught.

Now, I shall outline a few broader questions to facilitate such a conversation on the creation of a P.A.Z.

What sorta gun is best? discuss.

Cricket or baseball bats? compare and contrast.

    Fortresses? critically evaluate.

Shaun of the Dead, Shit or not? complete a literary review.

I hope to hear from you all soon comrades.

Best gun to use? Fully automatic shotgun, hands down. Being able to fire high velocity shrapnel without having to pump, or reload after every 2 shots would be invaluable in combating high density crowds of zombies. However they are Illegal pretty much everywhere, so its not the most realistic option. For me, being an Australian, Guns are relatively hard to come by. So personally i would probably have to resort to highly sharpened machete's.

Witch brings me to the topic of hand to hand weapons. Personally i think using sharpened weapons is better than cricket or baseball bats. Its probably better to try and hack a chunk out of a zombies head than to try and beat its skull in.

What do you guys think about protection? I think full biker leathers are a good idea, have you tried to bite through leather?

Use no weapons at all, that is how hardcore I am. That zombie tries to bite you? You bite it the fuck back! A single punch from me can kill 6 zombies and disable 2, I have science to back me up on that. Some well-known scientist did some tests on me, they were impressed, you should be too.

the real way to kill zombies is my way i learnt it back in 2387398430948309t049 when i was 5 trick is the oldest shit in the hat. basically you run at the zombies like a ninja but upside down and then slap them in the face with your ballsack the shit works, this is the after effct www.bluewaffle.net so all the zombies see it and go fuck man that ninja will squash us whith his crotch and commit ritual suicide hence my move served the day. o_O

    Fortresses = Shit

I mean, have you seen one single zombie movie? (and we must all remember that these are all based on science) In Zombie movies, they ALWAYS break through the barricades! Slowly and effectively, with arms suddenly coming out the walls. Therefore, use basements!

When they can hit through walls, can't you risk that the house falls apart? ;)

Ungovernable, There isn't such a thing as to many zombie movies ! :lmao:

Apart from that, everybody should watch the Norwegian zombie film "Död Snö". As if Zombies wasn't bad enough - this is Nazi zombies!

    I do, I really do.

Anyway. As far as firearms go you want a .22 rifle. They are light as is the ammo. You will be able to carry 10 times as much ammunition. If you do choose a shot gun, pump or breech loader are preferable as they are much less likely to jam. Automatic weapons have that tendency. Full auto tends to waste ammo as well. You want a well placed head shot and auto tends to climb. After the second round you will most likely be shooting over their heads. Shotguns also require you to be much closer, so do handguns. The closer they get the more fear becomes an issue. This will degrade your accuracy. Keep them at a distance and use a rifle.

For hand weapons the crowbar is your best option. Light weight enough to carry with you when traveling on foot yet heavy enough to smash a skull. They also have the advantage that no other hand weapon will have, their intended function. You can use them to open locked doors, open crates, or shift a heavy object. A sword or bat will not be able to do this.

Really sounds like an awesome computer game with the crowbar ;) but you're probably right, you make valid points. Apart from that, it might not be easy to find a samurai sword or something like that, but a crowbar is possible

Meh @ crowbar... I prefer an axe, to be honest. Small ones can be carried in your belt and some better weighted ones can be used for throwing. They have the same possibilities in opening crates, destroy most wooden doors (I highly doubt metal doors could be opened with a crowbar anyway, as it only opens because the lock is twisted out of either the wooden frame or the door) and shifting heavy objects needs very little more than a large stave of any kind and a fulcrum point.
Besides if you take the time to shift heavy objects it's all too easy to get caught up by the zombies. I mean haven't you guys seen zombies RUN before? Zombies are usually only incapable of running because their bodies are already decaying or are too damaged to run, the newer generations would most likely NOT have this problem (yet).
Also take a good supply of knives, one on each ankle, several on your belt, at least one in your backpack and maybe even some in shoulder/waist holsters. You should be able to stow at least 6 of them on your lower body alone (ankles, thighs, waist both sides). Also if you carry a backpack it's really easy to carry a crowbar horizontally (if it isn't too wide) through the straps and you should be able to carry a stave-like weapon diagonally between your pack and your back. Needless to say you should also be wearing army-style cargo pants, they don't have to be camo, just make sure they're tough and have at least 6 pockets. Useful for ammunition, supplies and more weapons.
There are also several other weapons most people will not think of initially, but which will be readily available once the apocalypse sets on: club-like weapons such as chair-legs, bottles of any kind (and subsequent molotov cocktails), zip guns of any kinds (blueprints of which are readily available on the interwebz, just try Isohunt for that one), axes, most types of large panels can be easily adapted into shields and that's not to mention the abandoned archery clubs, shooting ranges and dojos.
Seriously people YOU guys expect to survive the zombie apocalypse... pffft... PREPARATION IS THE FIRST STEP TOWARDS SURVIVAL PEOPLE!!!

    Rathryn:
You've got some good points there too :p

Though, as the flesh is starting to decay on the zombies, and the nerves etc. shouldn't work due to the brain not functioning fully, it would be easy to cut off legs and such of the zombies.
Therefore, tree scissors or electric motorsaws would be great for defending barricades. To big and heavy to run around with, but would be pretty effective during a siege.
Also, it's easy to come by in non-gun-overflooded countries like my country :p

Not just that, but certain more 'primitive' version can be scavenged together and be hand-powered. Just like arrow slots in ancient towers you might be able to provide well... cutting slots :p

EDIT: It might also be an idea to wear knuckle-duster or gauntlet-type gloves, so as to add another last resort weapon, without impeding manual dexterity too much. Retractable wristblades might also be an option, if needed, but they require a bit more planning and technological know-how (what with the spring-triggers and all).

No matter what, strong leather gloves would be an idea. Also, some strong boots etc. is a good idea. Bare skin attracts zombies.
Also, we all know what happens if you get bitten by a zombie in the movies - wear some gloves or so, to avoid the worst of the bites

I don't know much about guns, but i did see something where a guy killed a whole bunch of zombies with a lawn mower, plus it acted as a shield.
Idk, i took ballet as a kid but as far as wooden sports stuff goes wouldn't a hockey stick be good since you can get a little bit of distance between you the zombie?
Also, as far as a fort or something like that, I'd say hid in a drug store or supermarket or something that way you have food and maybe some basic medical supplies.

    Dead Alive.

If you were to go with an ax I'd suggest a hatchet. They are light enough to swing easily. A fireman's ax has a drawback with the way it is weighted. It it is no easy to hit a moving target and if you miss you stand a good chance at being overbalanced. As far as edged weapons go they are the best. Machetes will lose their edge and therefore their effectiveness pretty quickly when hitting skull. A katana would be a good choice for decapitation if you can find a real one. Expect to spend at least $800 (US) for one. You will want one with steel that has been folded at LEAST 1000 times. Not cheap.

Armor can be miss leading. It can inspire courage that can lead to recklessness. Survival should be first and foremost so avoidance and not confrontation is key. What that said, eye and mouth protection should be your main concern. Zombie blood in the mouth or eye will prove to be fatal. Look for a riot helmet with a full face shield.
