in my city most of the eligible punk/anarchist dudes seem way more down for dating the fresh-outta-high school chicks they can school to be part of the "scene" than the handful of us with real-world experience and solid political opinions. of course, i live in the midwest, so that's probably part of my problem... wah wah, but just so ya know, anarcho dudes aren't the only ones that have to deal with the dating dilemma. i haven't met anyone i'm interested in that can agree my social/political agenda, so i stay single and dream of moving to a city with way more punx...

At this point I wonder if you are strongly grounded in you're independent beliefs. That is to say somebody who can compromise easily( because I can't.)

If it were me that sex would have to be like heroin, because having somebody tell me what to dress and think like that is something I wouldn't be able to do.

i didn't say she decides what i wear, how i look, what music i listen to or even how i think, she just won't let me get a mo hawk, lol. its understandable, i wouldn't wanna be caught in public with an ugly dude like me with a mo hawk. haha

we broke up the day i posted that anyway, so fuck yeah, i can get a mo hawk now.

off topic: isn't the mo hawk something to do with recognizing native americans as true owners of the united states? i think i heard that in that movie about a bunch of hypocritical anarcho punx, SLC Punk.

edit: yeah it does, comes from "the people of the Mohawk nation" http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mohawk_hairstyle

As long as a girl isn't TOO far off from me in terms of beliefs than everything's fine, though I'd love to have an uber-left wing punk loving girlfriend...of course I'm also incredibly desperate for sex so at this point, if I like the way a girl looks and she's willing, I'll take what I can get...though that doesn't necessarily have anything to do with a relationship.

I can't fucking stand it when a girl is less feminist than I am. Especially when they're so accepting of gender roles. It just seems so weird to me.

My girlfriend/babymomma wasn't into any of that (other than riot grrl bands for the music) when we met. She was into punk, just not political at all. She's open minded, though. She listens, questions and has come around. Just goes to show, just because someone isn't into the same stuff as you doesn't mean you shouldn't take a chance.

I`ve been doing some serious time travelling in this forum.
I have the opposite problem. most anarchists I`ve come by have not really had a clue what anarchy is, they just slap a fancy patch on their pants and spend 90% of their time getting wasted. Also I tend to attract conspiratist loonies and loonies in general. Or heavily depressed and confused "artists". For some reason trying to be nice and asking people questions means I have a thing for them, also I`m really not good at lying or saying no to people, so I might not be helping myself by giving someone I don`t like my number.
I could never last in a relationship with someone I disagree with, hell, I can`t even have friends I disagree with. I had a really close friend once, turned out he voted for a right wing party and I called him out on it. He got offended. Its been two years and he still hates me.

I`d rather stay lonely for long periods than have dozens of short-lived relaitonshits though. I don`t see the point in getting involved with someone when I know its all gonna end in tears, snot and drama.

I don't need someone to agree with everything I say nor would I want them to because that wouldn't be honest. By the same token, I wouldn't want that for myself either. As long as we're not total opposites and have the same basic beliefs and interests & respect, open-mindedness and a killer attitude & a sensw of humour ther's every reason to give it a try. And she doesn't necessarily have to be a hardcore anarchist.

I totally would call, but I can't afford the long distance charges for ringing up a chap in the Milky Way.

I can relate to nclpw. Fuck, so many fence sitters and insincere dullards here, and anyone worth pursuing is taken or not into you romantically due to sexual orientation. People calling themselves equalist while making right-wing statements are whats available, no thanks! I wish I could find someone who wants to be self-reliant and walk the walk instead of just talking about it. It's really depressing, but I'm willing to live a life with no romance, just cats and dogs for late-night cuddles.

You can have different interests but still have similar personalities. I like being challenged as much as the next dude but there are a few things I won`t change my mind about, like racism/things I care a lot about and am not even willing to discuss.
Yep! Pretty much. Having weird philosophical discussions while you`re high and 16 sure is fun, but most of my friends have "grown out of it" and gone off to study(and continue getting wasted). Some of them never grew out of that and have reached a political "impasse" and started getting into new age and that crap, which is just as depressing.
AH what would we do without them.. I`ve never ever had a fight with my dog.

Thank you! That's appreciated That's not my real number BTW, haha. (duh)
Not sure if this was in response to my post???
The fact that we'd have to share the same basic beliefs to begin is obviously very desirable.
I wouldn't ever try to "force" my world view onto my partner however. This would prevent me from possibly learning something new from my partner, and wouldn't be open mindedness.
I would also never consider dating a racist pig, fascist pig or neo-nazi pig, or any other kind of "pig" for that matter.

Another quality that I forgot to mention is "openness". Openness in a relationship, as I'm sure everyone would agree on, is extremely important. Without being able to open up to someone, the relationship would suck!
And of course : Love conquers all!
Hahaahaha, damn, I've fallen for so many lesbians, it's just not funny! :lmao:

Haha, yeah. But sharing political beliefs or having the same taste in music is kinda just scratching the surface. I could just as well end up hating someone that loves the exact same things I do. I mean having the same personality traits, like being open minded or uh being the "family"-type etc(and all the other things you mentioned).

Maybe we`re all just getting bitter and picky!
