I have a couple of cats. They are neutered/spayed. They stay inside. They have their claws clipped (not declawed, just the tips clipped off to prevent them being too sharp). I clip them regularly, it prevents them scratching the furniture, although they are provided with scratching poles, toys etc. I am a cat person not a dog person, mainly because the cats do look after themselves more than dogs . My wife is an animal person in general, so we have dogs as well :ecouteurs:

    Love cats!

In fact I am at my mum's pet store now. We buy cats off shelters (just before they get put down), de-sex, vaccinate and then re-home them. Our house is now filled with cats, they live at our house when they aren't at the store. Also love dogs =P

I hate cats... Too much damn fur sticking to black clothing, floating into your mouth, and even landing in your soup... Blugh... Sadly I do have a cat, don't know what species it is of but it has long fur and falls out easily at that.

Maybe you shouldn't shake your cat over your soup when you eating it.

While i do love all animals (except cave crickets) i have a soft spot for cats. My family has a long history of animals, and we currently have 5 cats, a dog, a myriad of fish and i have two rats that i love to pieces <3

on the subject of outdoors vs indoors, 3 of the 5 cats go outdoors frequently, while the other two stay inside. we give them a "choice" whether to go outdoors or not, but the thing about cats is that they make the decision whether you like it or not, and once they do you can't really stop them. thats one of the reasons i love cats so much. loving and affectionate yet totally their own authorities. true anarchists.

Amelie and Joon (my rats) live in my room in the basement, and since we have 5 cats i generally keep the door shut. however the youngest cat Chester has a tendency of getting in every once in a while, and when he does he immediately hops on top of my dresser thats near their cage (i let them out every day and play with them and they have a ton of space in it, before i get bombarded) and sits and watches them calmly and they don't even get alarmed. they even come investigate him on the rare occasion Chester hops on the stand. while i wouldn't have them out when he's in the room, I like to think they would just chill out together and be buds.

Yeah, long hair ones are pain. I got different problem, I got shut them out the room whenever I eat anything, otherwise I look away for three seconds and they jump on table and eat it. They even run up my arm and try get bread out my hand, and it not like they starved, they real fat, just greedy little bastards. At least the dogs just sit there looking at me with sad eyes trying to make me feel guilty, that's lot easier to put up with.

I had Guinea Pigs until recently (died, but became pretty old), and during the last year, i had cats too. My oldest cat which kills EVERYTHING (i let him, in the end, i can't stop him from killing), didn't ever hurt my guinea pig. He was curious about her, but even when he had his paw inside her cage, he didn't use his claws, he just touched her.
My smaller cats found her very interesting too. I had my guinea pig outside the cage walking around on the floor, and the cats just watched and thought she was interesting, but never hurt her. My youngest cat even petted her with her paw, without using claws :)

I think cats just see them as part of the group... And therefore treats them well.

    Your cat is adorable!

On the topic of owning cats: My cats seems fine with living here. Also i know cats in apartments that are so happy and social - it's about treating them well.
Mine are from a shelter, one of them found in a box abandoned at the street as a kitten. They can leave whenever they want to, they can come and go as they see fit - they just come back because they like us. We give them food, we pet them and all. My cats own me.

I invest in lint rollers :)

Anyways, while I like both cats and dogs, I'm more of a cat person. This is mine :)

I prefer rats. You can litter train them like cats and teach them basically anything you can teach a dog as they are very food oriented. Plus they're easier to smuggle in places where pets aren't allowed. the shock value you get from people is pretty sweet too. "Oh my GAWD! He has a RAT in his pocket!"

I'd rather not have any pets at this point. I have an 11 month old son who's just learned how to run and he's more than enough to take care of.
