Since President Obama’s election, there’s been a surge in hate crimes, political murders and assassination threats in this country. Right-wing militias are on the rise in several states, and high rates of unemployment have further stoked anger against racial minorities and recent immigrants. Independent filmmakers Rick Rowley and Jacquie Soohen go inside the white nationalist movement to file an exclusive report.

It's all over the world. In Denmark, Germany, Norway and France, we've had problems with nazi's too - especially since the economic crisis, since people for some reason blame immigrants and socialists.

I can imagine it's even worse in the US with Obama and all.
Does he even do anything to fight it?

it's totally legal and tolerated in the USA....

it's what they call freedom of speech.... the same thing some people were defending here ...

    Ungovernable:
    Yes it's the same here.

It's freedom of speech when some stupid racist draw a picture of muhammed with a bomb - it's freedom of speech to be a nazi, and our government parties even have meetings with the neo-nazi groups.
    - Yet, they refuse to meet with people from the youth house, or from the group for a muslim state Hitz-ub Tahrir.

I'm all for freedom of speech, but if nazis should be allowed to march up and down my streets, i want my right to protest and try and stop them!

the only difference between democracy and dictatorship is that in a democracy you can talk, but no one listen.

    Exactly.

In society studies class we even learn in our basic education about all of the democratic flaws in our society.
I think it's symptomatic that we learn how politicians lie to us in school, and we still choose to believe them. Only in the western world.

Right-wing militias suck, MILITIAS however, do not. ALF and ELF are like militias, but what they are fighting for is a better cause than a skin color... how dumb

    ALF and ELF ??

My definition of a militia is like a para-military organization that looks like an army, with weapons and training camps similar to the army

ALF and ELF have nothing of that, and also they are not organized groups, they are de-centralized and independant from each others

It continues to fascinate me how people can pretend this is not happening, members of this forum have denied this is happening and asked who these morons are a threat to, well that little girl I'm sure had no idea what any of this means and she's dead. I would hope those of you who are for freespeech for supremacists have something to say about your 'ideals' to the family of these dead Mexican-Americans in Arizona.

WBC tried to do a march in our town. I wouldn't call them a militia but they certainly are an organized hate group. I say tried because they let and called the cops after the massive counter protest essentially became a gay pride rally.

there are some milita movements that are good...well kinda. there's A.R.M (american militia movement) that was the only one i went to really and they where decentralized and they wernt racily motivated...but i whould say to j4 and all that they need to clean up there site if they want to win any people...get rid of the religiously motivated people and kick jim off. i saw this one guy on youtube claiming to be a part of ARM and he was a right-wing dumbfuck let see if i can rememebr one of his comments....oh yeah. he had the gloyious privilage to kill those "pedophile assholes" or something like that wish i could of tracked him to seeif he was on ARM and bust his ass

Though I'd post this, it's pretty relevant as there are actually a fair amount of white supremacist groups
now assisting federal border patrols. Paramilitary as hell and often better armed than federal ones.
Surprising thing is (actually I'm not really that surprised) that there "help" is often tolerated and sometimes
    welcomed.

Beyond toleration it's not at all uncommon for many extremely right wing militias to be widely viewed as patriots,
this often extending to nazi militias as well.
Kind of funny actually. American militias are seen as patriots if they're right wing and domestic terrorists if they're
left wing. Wish we had more of the latter.
