hey. i dont know how many of you guys have had bad times dealing with cops. but i have found this site to be really helpful to me. its pretty much how to deal with certain situations with cops and law. its written by defense lawers and has been good for me. it helps you see how far a cop can a can not go. and how to deal with cops in differnt situations

it also clears up myths. like have you heard the one where cops have to reveil if they are cops if you ask them straight out? well they dont. they clear shit liek that up.

the site is called flex your rights
    http://flexyourrights.org/

i want to try the whole not consenting to a search one day. a day i will hopfully have nothign on me at the time. just to see how it goes.

words to remebr and live by
"im sorry officer but i do not consent to searches"

thought this would be useful. with all the differnt protest going on and then ever fast decent into a full fledged police state. its good to knwo what can and cant be done.

it's bullshit, yes they do not have the right to search on you for no reason BUT if they break this rule and find something then it's excusing them.

2-3 years ago some cops did an illegal search on me TWICE IN A ROW, i was in a crowded festival and yelling "hey everyone they are doing an illegal search on me and you all see it" and finally they found a lot of drugs on me, i was accusated of owning illegal weapon and selling drugs.... I wanted to make a complaint against the cops in police deontology (who refused to give me their badges number) but it failed because they found something, so it excuse them of breaking the law... how fucking stupid

anyway, in quebec the COBP is distributing a very interessing pamphlet called "know your rights". Also watch the copwatch documentary i posted in the documentaries section, very useful infos.

Interesting website, thanks for the link Rude-Boy. It would possibly help when I get back to the states, for it can be of TOTALLY NO use over here, but it is still worth informing yourself and others.

To Ungovernable: Yeah, it probably would be of no use if they actually do find anything on you, but did you actually refuse to "consent" for any searches? Check this: http://flexyourrights.org/success_stories

Thing is if they break the rule and find nothing on you, then that would be great.

ya im not saying its fool proof but its good to know these things.

biggest problem is when you say no they really want your ass.
i remember chilling in a park with some friends and a cop came driving right into the park. we were able to get our beer hidden in bags. the cops came over looked around and was asking us stuff trying to intimidate us. he then pointed a a bag on the ground and asked if he could search it. right away i was like no. he said he did not have to ask and can do it anyways. i said no he cant. he said he would arrest me for interfering with justice or what ever he said. i said no you cant. he then did the whole you got somthing to hide thing i was like no. i just like to follow law and procedure. he hung around a bit and then left. it was the only time i have ever gotten away with saying no.

You could try appearing more ''professional'' such as trying to sound like you know what your are doing, use big words and stuff.

This could be an example, pulled off the link posted in this thread:

    And another:

Etc... Think they could help a bit, but that depends on where you live and the mood of the pig.

ya its a thin line you have to walk when dealing with cops. there is beingf cofident and using your rights. then there is hiding somthing. i like that lock your door as soon as you get out though. going to try and remember that.

One thing to remember is that a majority of officers have a real ethics problem, they dont care what rules they break in order to "protect the citizenry" they think they are empowered to do anything and everything in order to further their agenda. By the way in most California Dept's 3 seperate formal citizen complaints against an officer will get him expelled!

Man am I glad I only encounter Dutch cops. Most of them don't pose too much of a problem and if treated with some respect might actually end up being relatively nice guys 0.o
Hell, there's no drinking here in public and at one point I was sitting in the grass somewhere with a mate, when a cop shows up. First he asks us if we're doing weed, to which I replied: why? Do you smell anything of the like?
Then when he was asking me if I was drinking, I answered: not yet.
In the end I had a pretty nice conversation with the guy and opened one of the half litre cans of beer while he was actually turning away, never got shit for it neither.
Seriously, cops around here seem like PEOPLE compared to the fuckwits you seem to have over there.

Yeah, you right. I dunno about across the pond, but cops I encountered in rest of Europe seem decent compared to bastards in UK.

Pretty entertaining talk by a lawyer about why you shouldn't talk to cops: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=i8z7NC5sgik

My favorite encounter with the cops was on 6/6/06 when my friends and I were riding bikes around town at two in the morning. We're from Bloomington, IN, a college town that loses about 40,000 people of its 120,000 population in the summer. That means the cop to regular person ratio increases quite uncomfortably and they don't have shit to do other than harass kids.

Long story short, I ended up sitting in the middle of a semi-circle of six cop cars. One at a time, every cop on duty that night tried his hand at convincing/intimidating me into letting them search my bag because "they knew I had weed in it." Of course, I did have weed in my bag, but they didn't know that and I knew there was no way they could search me. So for half an hour, I listened to their threats while remaining completely impassive. Didn't say a word to 'em other than "am I being detained" and "I don't consent to a search."

Eventually they got bored and frustrated and went off to harass someone else. Before they left, they told me I was banned from university property for a year and would be arrested if I returned. I said, "okay, can I call the police station tomorrow morning and get a record of that?" The two officers in charge exchanged an uncomfortable glance and then one replied, "uhhhh...I don't think so." As obnoxious as it was to be put in that situation, it was nice to see them walking away holding their dicks like that. :lmao:

what pisses me off is when others are like ya and let cops do what ebver they want and you get dragged into it. if your the only one to say no. its not looking good for you,

anotherdownfall is its not hard for a cop to look in your bag or what ever. if he sees you drinking or smoking somthing weird or there are bottles around or it smell weird. its hard to fight the 100000 things a cop can use. but for the little times this site serves it pourpos shows they are all liers and never trust a thing they say
