I was wondering if you were going to contribute to a list of the most important/influential/whatever anarcho-Punk songs, which songs would you include and why? I don't expect anyone to actually pick 100 songs, nor do I expect us to actually compile a list, but i thought it would make a good discussion. Also, your reasons for picking hwatevr songs is completely subjective, so there is no wrong or right. But including a sentence or two on why you would include said song is probably a good idea.

to get the ball rolling i'll through a few songs out without putting much thought into it, the ones that come to my mind right away.

Do they Owe Us A Living - Crass
(A simple anthemic message that still holds true today.)
Fight War Not Wars - Crass
(hardly a song, more of a chant, but made aware the simplicity and effectiveness of slogans, and the message so clear speaks fo itself.)
    No - Subhumans
(an early full on attack on organized religion)
Rotten To The Core - Rudimentary Peni
(explains why rock stars are unimportant in the anarcho punk scene, if you don't hold to your word, your just a fraud.)
    Meat Means Murder - Conflict
(one of the earliest call outs to meat eaters that there is an alternative and that considering animals have feelings.)
Freedom Peace And Unity - Omega Tribe
(this song is almost like a charter to what the scene should mean.)
    Anti-Manifesto- Propagandhi
(Almost 15 years after crass, this song eloquently states what the scene and bands should be about, "we strive for something more then a faded sticker on a skateboard." Brilliant in it's simplicity.)

I'm not trying to start an argument, but wouldn't "Anarchy in the UK" fit in the list?

Well, Anarchy in the UK and the Sex Pistols was a more mainstream scene than the anarcho-punk scene, and it was anarchism in a different way. I will argue that the Sex Pistols was important for the anarchist scene, but we've run that discussion before on this forum, and some does disagree.

That said, i would say some songs missing is:
    Crass - Big A, little A
(The whole middle section, "he is he, and she is she, but you're the only you", they encourage individual thinking. Important song i think)

    Crass - Bloody Revolutions
(Against violent revolution - Anarchy and peace)

    Poison Girls - Persons Unknown
(Encourage all to unite no matter background, and also, a song that shows how experimental and different the anarcho-punk scene can be musically)

The Mob - No Doves Fly Here
(one of the saddest and most powerful anti-war songs i've ever heard)

Subhumans - Who's gonna fight in the third world war?
    Subhumans - Religious wars
    The Mob - Witch Hunt

    Skarpretter - Government
(A great lyric about government using people)

    Skarpretter - Ammunition
(Opposite the early anarcho bands, a song about fighting back with any means necessary, being tired of nothing happening)

Never said Op Ivy was, just that I like that song. Anarchy in the UK should be on the list of most important if only for one reason. That song is the first exposure to punk in general for a lot of people. I personally can't stand the pistols but they were one of the first "punk" bands I ever heard. For that alone it is definitely one of the most important.

But this is a list of the most important ANARCHO PUNK songs, so neither op ivy nor the sex pistols fit here..

    I'd Say...

    Zounds - Subvert
i think no song better covers sabotage on the job and keeping your ideals with you wherever you go.
    Amebix - Arise
just the power of this song and the vocals, it to me has this enegry that towers over the religious bullshit it speaks of
Amebix - No Gods No Masters
If for no other reason than the title thats become such a slogan
    MDC - Born to Die
again, if for anything else than for "no war, no kkk, no fascist USA"
    MDC - Chicken Squawk
this song was one of the reasons i went veggie. most songs about animal rights (that i know at least) aren't nearly as fun as this one :D
Subhumans - When The Bombs Drop
to me this song paints an awsome picture of an society who's ignorance and complacency leads to their destruction

short list, really. honestly specific songs are hard to pick out when often it's just a whole album of good stuff. like i'm tempted to put that whole first Millions of Dead Cops Album up.

Read what the orginal poster said
There is no right or wrong. He also said it was purely subjective. So they did in fact fit because of purely subjective reasons.

i did say that, but common snese would dictate that the sex pistolds and op ivy are not anarcho punk, if you wanted to argue their influence on anarcho punk, that's a whole other discussion.
