Yeah if it had been my work place, the security would have shut it down in three seconds and then you would have been out on your arse. At least in the US they can protest about not having health care in their contract. In Australia about 90% of contracts wouldn't have any sort pf healthcare included.

That's because we have Medicare (universal public healthcare). It may be in a little trouble at the moment but it sure as shit beats what the Yanks seem to have (not have) and we have had it since 1973.

Yanks have medicaid which is the same as medicare. I was talking along the lines of private health insurance, which is what they would be demonstrating for

Their new health thingy is still very new so you can't say it is the same as the system we have here.

Medicaid is not the new system it is partly what our medicare was based on forty years ago. Medicaid was created in 1965 and was a means tested system for low income earners. Medicaid is funded by state and federal governments. Medicare is purely federally funded and is not means tested. The other thing that Medicare was based on is the NHS (the Bristish National Health Service) which was created after the second world war (about 1950, I think).

These people would be protesting about not getting private health insurance in their contracts because their publicly funded health services are so bad. Medicare however, is very good in comparison which means most Australians don't require negotiation for health care in their contracts but having said that 90% of employers would therefore not offer such a contract for private insurance.
