something like this makes me mad.some wall street jerks were bored and fucked up entire country.their prime minister said that was a murderous act.they demolish greek economy and they wanna blame people for that by raising taxes, cutting their salarys leaving them nothing but hope(after some time they will take their hope as well).i heard that some communist party marched in some building and leaved a banner that is saying:people of Europe,Stand Up
    and we should!

Well, I'm from Europe (in terms of parentage), but i hope a revolution, should it be euro-centric, blesses us with a tour downunder.

Been following this for a while, probably since Alexi's death at the hands of cops a few years back and it's terrible to see more people dead. There is a revolution brewing in Greece and when the rest of Europe gets hit with austerity measures we could see this spread. We live in interesting times.

I read in on the website of one of our newspapers that it isn't sure that it were demonstrators, who put the building on fire. Some claim it were people trying to hide a tax fraud.
Of course these are just rumours!

If it were protesters I hope they were stupid stalinists...

There is talk that agent-provocateurs with links to the fascist group Golden Dawn may have had some involvement.

Some dodgy characters were spotted in the crowd posing as demonstrators but they were found out and chased and they ended up being protected behind the police lines.

Unfortunately, the global financial crisis has been caused completely by the institutions greed, in particular the banks. Banks have loaned money to people that in effect, could not repay the debt, which essentially causes the economy to crumble. This was the case with Bernie Mac and Fannie May in the US (I think that was the two major companies) and AIG in Europe. Fortunately the banks in Australia appear more prudent but they are still greedy. One of our institutions here has just posted a six month profit of AU$3 billion an is still claiming that it needs to raise fees due to the escalating costs of borrowing and lending, and the reason why? TO provide a greater return to investors/shareholders.

Yeah I thought the name sounded familiar. I can't remember what the lending institution was called. It was something like that though. Just found it on google. It was Freddie Mac or the Federal Home Mortgage Corporation.

fannie and freddy are government institutions. Its governments that created the crisis. Greed encouraged through state action and consequences deferred through government interference to be unleashed after their terms are over and they've made their cut. The sad thing is that so many european nations and the US are on the verge of the same financial insolvency that greece is going through and iceland has already gone through. Unfortunately the debts held by the US cannot be covered by the rest of world, which would mean the collapse of the economic system and governing systems as we know it, but it won't happen. A global, overseeing economic governing agency will arise like the UN, but likely will provide a one world currency to protect this economic collapse from happening again, but with powers like the federal reserve in the US, it will only keep most in debt, while a few get very wealthy. Keep your anger towards the state and don't get distracted by business. Business are only taking advantage of the aggressive use of violence the state uses to benefit itself, politicians and their friends. Just like you shouldn't get angry with the person taking advantage of the welfare state, but turn your anger to the state that uses violence to steal, keep the poor poor through the welfare state and those encourage the states violent actions through the government programs they support and their votes.

    This just in:

Bomb explodes inside Greek courthouse, 1 wounded
By COSTAS KANTOURIS (AP) – 28 minutes ago

THESSALONIKI, Greece — A powerful bomb exploded inside a courthouse in the northern Greek city of Thessaloniki Friday, sending smoke billowing in the building and wounding one person.

It was the second bombing in two days — after a blast Thursday outside a jail in Athens that also wounded one person — raising concern that a recent crackdown on Greek militant groups could spur a new series of attacks.

Bombings and other militant attacks are frequent in Greece, but they usually occur at night and rarely target buildings during working hours.

Police had evacuated most of the court building after a Greek newspaper and television station received an anonymous call warning that a bomb had been planted in the toilets in the building's basement.

Dozens of people inside the building were seen running out the court moments before the blast.

Lawyer Babis Apostolides said one man sustained leg injuries, and he had transported him to a nearby hospital, where he received stitches.

"The man was bleeding and was in shock ... fortunately he got medical attention quickly and he's OK," Apostolides told private Alpha television.

He said many people inside the building had been reluctant to leave, because bomb hoaxes at the court are common.

"Police were virtually pulling people out ... there were a sense of panic because the blast was very strong and the dust and smoke was terrible."

Police said the blast knocked down some walls inside the building. A police investigator, who asked not to be identified because he is not authorized to talk to the media, described the damage to the lower part of the building as "extensive."

Court officials said the building will be closed Monday and Tuesday.

The attack came less than a day after a powerful bomb exploded Thursday night outside Greece's largest prison, Korydallos, in the Greek capital, Athens. One woman was slightly injured in that blast, cut by flying glass. That blast had also been preceded by a warning call to a newspaper.

There was no immediate claim of responsibility for either attack, but suspicion fell on radical Greek militant groups that have stepped up attacks in recent years and have been targeted in a recent police crack down.

Last month, authorities arrested and charged six people with membership of Greece's most active militant left wing group. The Revolutionary Struggle organization fired a rocket-propelled grenade at the U.S. embassy in Athens in 2007, causing no injuries.

Several suspected members of that group are being held at Korydallos on pretrial detention.

The people who were working in the bank were locked inside it.I heard rumors that some of us tried to brake it/unlock it on any way to let them out but failed. It appeared to be the only open store at that time, although it was targeted by black bloc many times before.Anyway,so many riots,so many fights and noone dead, but the media said the target of black bloc are the people anyway...I agree that riots shouldn't stop here,we must keep this up \m/
