    This Is England is a 2006 drama film written and directed by Shane Meadows. The story centres on young skinheads in England in 1983. The film illustrates that skinhead subculture, whose 1960s roots include elements of black culture especially ska, soul and reggae music,[2] became adopted by white nationalists, which led to divisions within the skinhead scene.

    The film begins with 12-year-old Shaun (Thomas Turgoose) getting in a fight at school after someone makes an offensive joke about his father, who died in the Falklands War. On his way home, unhappy, Shaun runs into a group of young, non-racist skinheads led by Woody (Joe Gilgun), who feels sympathy for Shaun and invites him to join them. The group accepts Shaun as a member and he finds a big brother in Woody, while developing a romance with Smell (Rosamund Hanson), an older girl who dresses in punky new wave style.

    Things change when Combo (Stephen Graham), an older skinhead, returns to the group after a prison sentence. He expresses racist and English nationalist views, and attempts to enforce his leadership over the other skinheads. This leads the group to split. Shaun stays in Combo's racist group instead of the apolitical skinheads led by Woody. Combo identifies with Shaun, who sees Combo as a father figure. Combo is impressed with how Shaun takes a swing at him when Combo talks about theFalklands War. Eager to please his mentor and honour his father's death, Shaun goes with Combo's group to a white nationalist meeting. After the meeting, one of the group members expresses doubt over what he has just heard. Combo responds by throwing him out of the car, forcing him to find his own way home. The gang then engages in racist antagonism of, among others, his local shopkeeper, an Asian man who had previously banned Shaun from his shop.

    Combo becomes depressed after Woody's girlfriend Lol — whom Combo has loved since a drunken one-night stand years ago — rejects him. To console himself, Combo smokes cannabis that he bought from Milky (the only black skinhead in the film). At a party with Shaun and the other members of Combo's group, Combo and Milky bond while intoxicated. Combo expresses an interest in Milky's family, of which Milky has plenty. Combo's mood darkens and he snaps, beating Milky unconscious while Shaun screams and tries to intervene. Almost killing Milky, Combo then shows panic and remorse, begging Shaun to help him get Milky to a hospital.

    The film cuts to a scene between Shaun and his mother, who tries to reassure him that Milky will be fine. The film closes with Shaun throwing his St George's Cross flag, a symbol of his friendship with Combo, into the sea.

    Yea the guy that plays the racist skin is a good actor (he was in snatch!). I also thought that the one part when the colored skin totally ditches his girlfriend to go smoke an ounce of weed. That made me laugh pretty good.

    uh no he doesnt well actually its unsure until they put out the series spin off, but i am pretty sure he doesnt die because wikipedia says so :lmao:

    the spin off is so good!
    In my opinion it's 10x better than the movie. It's way too short though. (four episodes)

    huh ? there's a secound part of the movie ? And if there is a secound part - wouldn't "This is England 86" be the first part ?

    Only good skinhead movie I've ever seen. Nice to see a movie where everyone isn't a nazi. After we saw it, my girlfriend and I would go around imitating Smell saying "wanna sook my tets?". :lmao:

    What's all this sequel and tv series talk?

    There is a movie named "This is England" it happens in 1980 , and then they released the series "this is england 86" that takes place in 1986 , which talks about the lifes of the same characters then This is england but 6 years later , but that series only have 4 episode of 40 minutes each .
    U can easily find them on google :p , dont search for the all the season , search for episode 1 , then episode 2... :)

    I have to agree with you! I watched the whole series in one day, I couldn't stop myself from playing the next episode straight after =(

    My face at the end of episode four was just... :o
