I thought it might be something of a good idea to introduce myself, so here we go-

My name is Jack Padurariu, i'm 16, and live in Ipswich, England. I was born in Romania, and after the fall of Caucescu, my mum moved back to England, where i've lived pretty much all my life! I'm just about to start my a-levels etc, and i'm taking them pretty seriously...

I'm a massive fan of music all across the board, but here's a few appropriate bands- Toxic Narcotic, Crass, Dead Stop, Extreme Noise Terror, Napalm Death, Red Flag 77, Raw Noise, BGK, Concrete Sox, Filth, Chaos UK, Richard Hell and the Voivoids, Justice, Bad Brains, Discharge, Dead Kennedys, Dead Boys, 86 Mentality, Fugazi, Poison Idea, Nerve Agents... and more than anything, DOOM! I could go on!

Punk is definitely up there for me, but i also like black and death metal, avant garde, industrial, experimental, jazz and so much more. I'm a bit sad in the fact i'm 16 and already have a record collection bigger than most adults. I am moderator for the website UKMetalUnderground, which gets over half a million hits at the moment, and i'm also the head of the reviewing section, as i have aspirations to become a music journalist in the future/right now. I've done a fair few gigs and interviews too. I really liked the sound of this website, even though im still a little wet around the ears when it comes to politics. I read a lot by Chomsky though, and Czech authors like Vaculik, if that means anything?

Anyway, hope to get stuck in soon!
    Jack

I wouldnt have a clue, i've only been back there four or five times to visit family in the middle of the countryside, via horse and cart haha.

Tell you what, they've got a hell of a lot of gypsy folk music though!

I don't know about the past, I would imagine that during Caucescu most rock music was kind of very very underground, and punk too, probably. When I was in Romania around 2001 the punk scene wasn't too active, at least in the Timisoara area, but that has changed since, now they have bands like Pavilonul 32 that are very active and a lot of events too...

if you know of any good stuff, can you post some in the "other downloads" section? i have "gypsy" heritage, and have quite an appreciation of this kind of music. not so much the techno stuff though, more the trad songs!
