Greetings fello punks. I'm sick and tired of the bullshit and i fugured this might be the place to ask... Where do I go to live the life as an active anarchist with fellow punks with the same ideology? In other words i want to continue fighting the system just not by myself because Tucson, AZ sucks!
I don't know but tell me when you find it. Boston's ok but its full of hipsters and screamo kids. Who knows? Maybe i"m just not looking hard enough
What parts of nyc? I've only been to the Met, the MoMA, and the Guggenheim. I heard that St. Mark's place used to be chill but isn't worth going to anymore.
ABC No Rio is a huge magnet for squatting punks in NYC, never been myself but a lot of my friends have played shows there and always come home praising the kids that run that place....search it on thee internetz....
I think Europe isn't too bad of an environment for anarchists, Squatting is condoned in The Netherlands, Amsterdam in particular is the home of quite some anarchists... but I bet you're looking for a place in the USA =)
Thanks Milan, I'd love to make it over to Europe some day and now i know where to go; however i'd have to swim over, other means are too expensive.
Hey I got two and a half acres of land in Oregon and want to start a "microcommune" with computers and stuff (have to use a generator though) and grow medical hashish.. if you are interested or know anyone who would write me.. might take a bit of roughing it for a while, though, depending on how quick I can get some structure built up there, I was thinking a multilevel geodesic dome... later Ben
Why not start a movement in your hometown? Find some kids with like-minded viewpoints, write a zine, or start a collective. Learn to pirate radio and broadcast yourselves to the world, or literally broadcast to the world by streaming live online. There are tons of projects you can in Tucson; you just have to find them/figure them out yourself. Moving yourself to a "more anarchist friendly" area won't do much. We want to spread the movement, not keep it clustered in the same spots. Plus, there are actually a few places already in Tucson that have on-going efforts: Bicycle Inter-Community Action (44 W 6th St) Dry River Radical Resource Center (740 N. Main St) Revolutionary Grounds Books and Coffee (606 N. 4th Ave) Not to mention the numerous collectives and radical bookstores in Phoenix. Start there - we radicals are generally a friendly bunch who love enthusiastic and trustworthy newcomers. Good luck, where ever your travels take you.
kinda funny to hear that said about tucson. i've been here nearly 6 years, love it, love the radical community, love all the anarcho-folks down here in the desert. i'm gearing up to move to kentucky in a couple months and am pretty worried about not meeting anarchists out there. anyways, all this is to say- if you're in tucson, that's not the problem. just look around, get involved with any of the border action groups, immigrants' rights groups, free radio chukshon, dry river, bicas, or any of the oter amazing projects happening in this town.
I must look around harder in Melbourne. The problem here is that Australians are very apathetic when it comes to change especially radical change and revolution. It never used to be the case, in the last century there were many rebellions and uprisings due to dissatisfaction. Today most Australians would rather whinge about the state of things rather than change it. Many of the demonstrations that occur in Australia are ethnic minorities taking up the cause and the majority then taking up the stance of 'Bloody (insert whatever derogatory racist slur you like), whinging again!, Go home!'
