Hippy

I dont think theres anything wrong with them I feel aspects of some the punk culture has been taken from it. Especially over in the UK with communes. At the end of the day punk as we know it goes back to Crass who were basically and some still are a bunch of hippies

 

Punk is Hippies
I think I like most of the hippies I've met more then the punks. Now that I think about it I sort of hate most punks

 

In my 42 years of life I have been and been called white rasta, punk, mod, greaser, hippy, skinhead and many other labels but the only real thing I took from life is that no matter where you go people are people no matter what label you attach to them.

 

Pretty much the same as allready said, very similar to punks

 

exactly, but hate to shower, like to wear patches, like diy, like to protest injustices, and listen to music the mainstream shuns. Peeny Rimbaud said crass were in essence 'the last of the hippys' , they really have more in common then people think.

 

hate hippies. they smell like pachully gel stuff or what ever and how can you say there the same as punks??? they would congregate, get in a circle bob there heads sum and beat there drums till they felt they made a difference. i mean look at the destruction some anarchist/punk riots have caused and tell me that we are the same again... iv met some hippies that actually hunted and lived off the land at a harvest festival i went to here in Oregon near grants pass and it was the family that ran the thing rainbow family i guess anyways that type of hippy i can be chill with but the yuppie hippie propaganda bull shit i see today makes me sick. peace is a great thing and i believe in equality but from what i can see of them today its become mostly raves lots of psychedelics and not a whole lot of action.

 

Most of the hippies I've met are awesome.

 

More of what people posted but punks and hippies have a lot in common, and most of the hippies i've met (young or old) are nice people who have similar views. Punks is hippies, Hippies is punks

 

i think its more of Punk Has Hippies say that alot of punk are like hippies but not chaos punks and other to lazy to go into depth i dont hate hippies my gf is a hippie with out the fashion or culture she just has the ideals

No but seriously I have had my fair share of good and fucked experiences with Punks and Hippies.

Don't get me wrong, I love Hendrix and all that stuff with a passion but sitting about doing fuck all can be fun for a day or even a few hours but I get more out of cooking large quantities of food for people, writing for zines, protests/pickets and occupying spaces, going to gigs and agitating as many people as humanly possible to think from an alternative angle.

 

depends on what kind of hippies you talk about , ones that just do hallucinogens and have no veiws on anything suck, but ones that will stand up for themselves and for what they beleive in is differant

 

Hippy is good, but hippy is not punk. Punk is one step beyond the hippy movement.

 

Punks, hippies, young republicans, jocks and hipsters. Their all the fucking same with a different damn label. The same damn social problems can be found in each group. The bottom line is that we are all human, and we all suck. So we are all equally pieces of shit.

 

I tend to think of modern punx as "angry hippies". We're just a touch more violent.

 

Suburban college hippies are the worst. I hate them, their music, their Bonnaroo, their image, their politics... everything about them.

 

Can someone tell my why the first waves of Punk hated the Hippies? I never understood that. Example: Sex Pistols and/or The Exploited - Kill The Hippies!

 

The bands that have said "Kill the Hippies" (the two I can think of being the casualties and the exploited *barf* *double barf*) have been twice, if not three times as useless as anti-war hippies. And what about Yippies? I actually really look up to Abbie Hoffman.
