    How's it goin?

My name is Tyler, I'm from Texas, and I'm a quickly growing little anarchist :p As far as political views go, my political journey really started a couple years ago, I started off as a center-left libertarian, but the more I read (not even just anarchist literature) I really began to realize how...awful...everything is. It took a bit of deprogramming to get my head around the idea of not having a state, but once I got over the initial hurdle, I found the anarchist movement, which lead me to many other like-minded people, who helped me grow.

I began everything by reading, just reading absolutely anything about politics and political theory, but I'm particularly fond of Karl Marx's writings (plus his beard makes him look like Santa, bringing Socialism to all the good little boys and girls :]) and Emma Goldman's essays. Emma Goldman is a personal hero of mine.

As far as music goes, I really don't know much. I'm very new to the "anarchist scene," but I consider myself pretty well-rounded musically. The only anarcho-punk band I've really gotten into is Leftover Crack, that gives you a really good idea of what I like hehe. Ska punk in general is just the bee's knees. I'm also into some grindcore, electronic stuff, and I really like experimental things. Originality is a big plus. Oh, and I like Lady Gaga xD I play guitar, not very well, piano, and ukulele. Ukulele is my favorite, I'd really like to find an electric one and hook it up to an amp, that would be amazing!

Outside of music and politics, I love theatre and foreign languages. Feel free to let me know about any amazing Danish, Italian, German, Hebrew, Portuguese or Greek (some good Anarchist languages in there ^^) bands I just need to hear about. I'm planning to give the site a much more thorough look over soon, I'm sure I'll find plenty of good listening material.

    Peace

    Welcome!

You seem to be a starter at anarcho-punk music, so I'll suggest the starters go by order if you want, since that's what I did (lyrics are very important):

First: Crass (Stat with freeding of the 5000 album)
Then: Subhumans (Worlds apart -> The Day The Country Died)
    Then: Conflict
Then: Flux of Pink Indians (Neu Smell)
    Then: Rudimentary Peni (Death Church)

By the way, Bakunin has a big beard too. Beware.

    Lunadimae has some good suggestions.
Another suggestion is to check out some of the comps in the download section, take a listen to a few of those and see if any artist that stand out to ya.
    And welcome :ecouteurs:

I started learning Greek, literally, last weekend. I'm learning it with a friend, but it's slow going, Greek is a tough language.

And I'm definitely going to check out those bands, thank you so much :]

Some interesting Dutch bands are Fleas & Lice, Shikari, Bloedbad, Jetset, The Ex (of course) and apparently Dutch is a very easy language to learn should you get bored :)

Fleas & Lice are excellent. Is Stiff still on bass for them? If so they are Dutch/Scottish band heh heh. Loads of decent Dutch bands like Insult, BSE, Jesus Crost, The Shining. Seems to be a ton of decent stuff coming out of Holland at the moment.
