In Denmark, the politicians can call immigrants for "the cancer of western society", "violent rapist's" and "caught in the stone age" - and no one care. The whole term "political correctness" is changing - it has become more and more okay to say things, that would otherwise be considered racist, homophobic, sexist etc. I think that's why people are talking about it that much

in america it is the total opposite of denmark, things that used to be ok are now taboo, and usually the people who decide something is wrong aren't the people the words are about, (words like indians, blacks, etc.) it's usually white people feeling guilty.

Political Correctness is just another word for what a majority of Anarchists espouse and it is now used as a derogatory term, anti racist, anti sexist, anti ageist, anti religious, pro communal, pro compassion, pro empathy, pro active, pro earth, pro animal.

The thing I don't like about political correctness is how phony it usually is. There's a difference between actually respecting others, and constantly worrying about offending, if that makes sense...

It just seems to me that in Canada the media often goes out of their way too over analyze things, and decide some group should be offended so they can have another shitty article about it.

I'm just critical of bigoted language, ideas, and behavior. I dunno if that's what "PC" mans, and I don't care, anymore than I care whether the "post-left" considers me part of "the left". =/

I think political correctness has overstepped its mark. I mean, honestly changing the words of Baa Baa Black Sheep or changing the names of Dick and Fanny in the Magic Faraway Tree by Enid Blyton because their names have sexual connotations is ridiculous.

I understand not calling someone a derogatory term but when someone is say shorter than me, then I don't see a problem with calling them short. I don't think calling someone obese is derogatory either, it is a medical term for their condition and fat also is not derogatory.

I think a remark becomes racist/sexist/derogatory when the intent to be offensive is there. If you call someone a 'fat bastard' or a 'black c**t' then the offensive intent is there and this IMHO should not be tolerated.

I actually use those kinds of remarks a lot in daily life, to mates (who often get called stupid cunts and dipshits, becuase they are from time to time).
Hell, it's become kind of my trademark, you could say... lol
I make no exceptions tho and do not get offended easily myself if someone starts using these terms. Fuck man... I thikn it has more to do with the intent of using the words than the actual choice of words.
Also in my group of friends the worst thing to be called is 'emo' XD

Bah. It's not really a doctrine. There is no Ministry of Political Correctness. It's just about not being an asshole. I hate when people complain about "PC" ("PC" being a sort of straw man for people to define however they like). Don't complain to me about it. Say that shit to my face, and we'll see how things go. =/
