I fucking love cats! Always have. Right now I have a 12-year-old named Angel (I got her from a friend, so don't give me shit about the name :p). From 1990 to 1993 I had two cats, Spec and Nadia. Spec had to be put to sleep in 1993 (I forgot what she had), but she was 18 at the time so she already had lived a long, full life. Nadia was with me until August 2006, when I had to give her away. That was a hard day.

I miss Angel she is such a sweetheart. She I got her from a friend before you got her, and before that she was at an animal shelter. I don't know anything before that. I miss how she would always sleep on my pillow at night though.

My parents have a small dog, a shih-tzu, who thinks it's a cat. Honestly, he purs.
He's also blind, SARDS (Sudden Accute Retinal Deterioration Syndrome). And he doesn't get enough exercise, so he's getting fat. So he's a fat, blind, purring shih-tzu who mooches like nothing I've ever seen before.

Agreed! Declawing should be illegal in the US (i've heard it isn't). It's terrible.

Don't feel bad, i have a vegetarian friend who has a cat and says that unlike dogs, they can't eat only veggies. My dog was made (for the most part) a vegetarian by the vet, he kept having allergies and would throw up. He can still have rawhides/bones though and a treat every now and then doesn't hurt him. It does feel weird going to a store and walking out with a bunch of bones though.
Also, i guess this is the place to ask, but i know people who think having animals is wrong, that we act like they're property and that we treat them like prisoners and that we should set them all free into the wild.
Obviously, i have a dog. He's a puppy mill rescue and was going to be put down because he didn't come out how they expected he would. I just see so many animals in shelters and rescues that have had any natural instincts bred out of them. Other animals have been abused in various manners and need quiet homes and loving people to take care of them Just me, but i think that if someone can give these animals another chance at life they should. I'd like to hear other people's thoughts on this.

For my egos sake im only posting the good parts of this dorky photo but this is in a hotel. People are oblivious to things around them.
(This is a Florida Panther she is 19 and has a twin no I'm not part of some abusive side show circus she has plenty of space to run around and she gets fed plenty I would know I have prepared many a meal for this cat)

I don't think it's right to keep animals like prisoners or to treat them as belongings. I don't think it's right to have animals just for ourselves. However, i do realise all animals can't get let out in the wild, domesticated animals would in most cases not be able to survive it. I do think it's right though to take care of animals that need it, wich lots of animals need, and to treat them as family members. If we are to 'have' animals we should give them as good lives as possible.
I wouldn't go to a breeder to get a cat or dog for a specific race or so, there are enough animals in the world with a need for someone to take care of them.
I have a cat but i don't have the possibility to make him happy where i live, in a tiny appartment, but i'm lucky enough to have family on a farm where he now lives and i can visit him. There ha can go out any time, he has cat friends and he has humans caring about him. If i would have kept him in my appartment, that would've been cruel. Some cats though are perfectly fine in appartments, but not all.
