    Smelly?

I started out acouple years ago after listening to metal since i was tired of listening to songs about unicorns and ripping the heads from the corpses of a bands rape victims....the only slight influence I had was my friend, she was raised on Punk and Thrash/Death Metal other than that ive just gone with what I liked.....I got started with bands like The Ramones and Op. Ivy (Tim Armstrong can suck me anytime after leaving them) The Casualties The DKs and really just moved on from there Oi!, Ska, Hardcore, Folk, Crust, Anarcho, D-Beat whatever I found I liked...As for the anarcho part I only find anarchy to be a temporary thing you leave people to their own devices for to long and greed has just bent you over I go for Marxism

I was practically born a punk. My dad always played his music when we "roamed" the city inside the car when I was really young. Eventually my brother got into it and I started to dress like it because of my brother. I got my first album when I was 7, which was a grindcore album "Brujeria - Mextrimest!" Around the 4th grade I started to wear flannels with some old school punk back-patch. Then 6th grade I actually started to show my pride and I still do now.

Since I was 10,I've been listening to Pennywise,Bad Religion,NOFX etc...On my 13 I started listening to more heavy music(The Casualties,Oi Polloi etc)Then,on my 14 met an anarcho-skin who helped me out with my ideas and since then I've been listening to Oi!.I was never a Punk and I can't be,because I don't like the fashion.I mean,I may have a mohawk and wear bullet belts, but it's because I like it.Not because the Punks do it...I don't like fashions and the way people wear the same things(especially when they don't feel like it),just because some others do.My ideas are quite similar with a Punk's though.

Hmm...not sure when I've become a punk...back when i was 12-13 I've got tired of all the pop culture and all and I've said to myself "I'm gonna become a punk!" as I've always digged the strange looks and unacceptable behavior and attitude...so I've started dressing differently (true that it was a rather goth-emo look), but I've still had to work on my attitude...once i found a crew i really thought that i was a goth as they were all goths there...mostly...then I've met my first gf and became somewhat of a random rocker kid...after dumping I've been a random rocker, but after some time I figured that punk is smth. that i was willing to become but never knew much about it, so i've started digging and found out that it's really smth. i can relate to!

The first punk bands i've been listening to were Joy Division and The Cure - post punk, but still - then i've set my attention to the sex pistols (as i've heard a lot about them), and of course the Exploited, the Casualties, the Dead Kennedys and some other bands. As time passed i've learned to distinguish bands and their genres and so on, anyways, now i play in 2 bands and have a solo projects (which i've started uploading on the net and there's a topic about it in the "Int. punk" music topic)

MXPX and skateboarding in the 90s made me a punk, and hanging out with some older dudes around Chapel Hill NC got me into some good music. I was really young, maybe 11 at most when I started coming around. I honestly can't remember how I initially got into anarcho, but it was probably through 80s street punk.

Punk was actually my ex-art teacher "fault".
He was in grind and crust, and we talked a lot. I started to search for that kind of music on blogs.
Thats how i got to anarcho punk and it was just it. I found it very interesting and started to listen to it.
It was about two years ago.
I'm 15 now and I started my own 7' grind collection this week.

I was pretty much raised on black sabbath as a kid, as a result my musical tastes have always been "darker" although I've also been attracted to fast, heavy music (as an example I remember listening to Judas priest at like age 9 and thinking "If only this was faster and this guys singing didn't suck"). Being the alienated preteen I was, I found vague acceptance with the whole hottopic/slipknot thing, this led to an interest with metal. More specifically death metal and thrash metal (was obsessed with the band Sodom); I started to realize that metal became gimmicky and generic really quick, so for a while I stopped listening to music for the most part.

Then one day, I checked out the misfits to see what the hype was about (for a while everyone had misfits shirts and stuff, but apparently it become a fad at my school to wear band shirts that you have no Idea about) I absolutely fell in love with the misfits and that led me to investigate the whole 80s hardcore punk scene, and was introduced to the likes of black flag, circle jerks, minor threat, dead kennedys, you know all the classics. next came the obligatory street punk phase, grew out of it because it was too much into the fashion and the pointless chaospunx thing (I still have the mohawk, I just don't have the heart [energy to care]to cut it).

Finally I discovered Aus-Rotten and was blown away by their sound AND Politics, this leads to check out all if their peers/forerunners catapulting me into the world of anarcho-punk and anarchism. Nowadays I mostly listen to anarcho-punk and crust but I still have a passion for all kinds of music.

I guess it started when i was 15 and started high school, this was 1996, I had been listening to punk for a few years prior to this, it was introduced to me by my lifelong best friend and still is to this day, Matt Lohrstorfer. We were both around the same age and his older sister was into punk and introduced him to it, we listened to black flag, misfits, dead kennedys, and local bands like anthem, spork, once again, and jihad. We had recently been to a house show to see this band Anti-Clone, and I was completely blown away, the cops showed up during the second band and shut it down and that's when I started to hate cops. Then we started high school, we went to two different schools though, and started getting more into the lifestyle and way of thinking. All these fuckin jocks and barbie dolls are all wearing the latest fashion and listening to the most popular music on mtv and basically doing whatever was considered "cool" at the time, it never fuckin ends. These people treated us like shit so we thought "if that's what they turn out like, I don't wanna turn out like that" so we basically did what we wanted and didn't give a fuck what anyone thought. Yeah, we got into trouble, it's all part of the fun. I could go on and on about this but I'd like to keep it short and save something for next time, but i'd just like to say to all those just starting out, it doesn't happen overnight and it's not about how much you can drink and whatnot, just stick to your beliefs and it will happen and whether you're a straight-edge or drunk punk or crust punk or whatever, we're all about the same thing and we will not be beaten down by the system.

i really dont know when, i know how though. I was a massive roxy music fan since i was twelve, being a fan it branched off into the late 70's english punk scene and enevitably the american scene of the same era. 80's led to new wave, stuff i absoulutely love. i kept digging into the 80's scene and eventually i found the obscure post punk scene. one of my all time favorites is "the birthday party", its so violent and darker than a thousand nights. i started playing bass guitar after i heavily got into proto-duran duran (john taylor is a bass god). i dont give a fuck what people say, new wave is relative to punk. Anyway i never really complied to what everyone else doing, wearing, listening too. I never tried to be different.... but i bet you guys know what its like to be different in a small town full of fuck heads. Isolation coupled with my frame of mind is better than having no mind at all.

Nick Caves and Henry Rollins writing, films of david lynch+david cronenberg+takashi miike+lars von trier+dario argento+lucio fulci..... (you get the picture)

The pistols were the first punk band ive ever listened to, i was about 8. Any way see above.

It started when my trust in the media collapsed when trying to search for a non-biased news source... its almost fucking impossible.

I remember, as 12 year old, having started listening to some metal music and such.

But during the time just before and after the eviction of the youth house in Denmark we had such an active scene with so many great artist's, especially punk, and i got into it, learned to know a lot of people, with very different opinions. Anarchist's and such. I'm glad i started hanging out with these people and learned so much, especially because many of my old friends before that ended up fascist's.
Though i've spent most time in the goth/post-punk and electro/EBM/industria scene, i've been into punk too for long. And lately, i've been more active in the punk scene.
