It's true that people here argue.

But trust me, i'm adminstrator on a underground forum in my country, and i've contributed to multiple other sites.

This is BY FAR one of the most intelligent sites. The arguments actually make sense, people know how to support their statements with arguments. The topics give better room for debating too.

And, i've noticed, that even though you disagree in one thread, people can agree in another - they don't just hold grudges because they are not entirely agreeing.

I'm not saying that it's perfect, but i say, that generally, the tone on this site is better than most sites when it comes to arguments.

I think we should avoid banning and censoring at all costs, I mean anyone can have a bad day or a bad week, and in part if he didn't understand that Veg Barb was being sarcastic and that maybe he had seen Anxiety contemplating a ban on ASA the guy would actually have a point, nest pas? Most people that have come here to troll have gone away on their own which shows an Anarchist community isn't for everyone. He misunderstood and he's human and probably a little young, not to be ageist. Lets please not turn into another cliqueish group like PE.

 

I agree with punkmar. And speaking of the people who just come here to troll... has anyone scrolled through the members list, there is page after page of members who have never posted, what is the point of setting up an account and then never voicing your opinion?

The fact that we have three pages on people arguing something so asinine is sad. So someone has a bad day, misunderstood something, and ranted, he's human, it happens. But instead of ignoring it and letting some get their feelings out and realizing that he was hurt, people make ad hominem attacks about his grammar? It sounds like a bunch of 13 year old girls fighting (sorry, but that is how it sounds). True he did over react, but did ganging up on him make it better? No.
So he insulted you and your pride a little bit, he maybe a little young and didn't know how else to express how upset he was. Its obvious that he was looking for a reaction and you fed into it.

 

i don't think there would be reason enough for us to do that. many might be potentially active in the future, or are still learning about @ism or whatever, and don't yet feel qualified to join in the debates. i also think it's good that people read things through rather that just post half baked opinions constantly, so many of the lurkers might just be doing this.

To clear the air on this, Yes, i did contemplate banning Asa, not because of our arguments, but because of racist comment he made, trying to make a point. He has since apologized, and I just want to on on record that I don't think there is anything wrong with banning someone who uses language like that on these forums. As far as upzpunx, I think banning him would be justified, but either way I support the decision of the other moderators and of the users of this site.
