Here in Melbourne there's still a few pretty killer street punk bands going around, along with some great oi! bands. Punch The Clown, who formed last year, are absolutely rocking.

I saw rust support the exploited...They suck,Most of their tracks are just aussie yobbo subject matter. Probably the second worst aussie street punk band i've heard.Second only to "The Corps",who gifted us with such great lyrics as "this ones to australia, the best country in the world"and other horrible crap. Better off checking out "A.V.O" & "The Disables","Sydney city trash" are ok as well.

i did find one decent track on the RUST EP,Called Tortured Tunes, but the rest i found kind of "Boganish" lol. Maybe it's just my dislike for the whole "proud to be aussie" style lol.

Hmmm, I'd never listened to them before, but they (rust) do seem like utter wankers (from what little I gleaned from their web page). I literally cringed when I heard the Advance Australia Fair guitar solo at the start of one of their songs. Ugh.

Oh, and good call on the Disables.

I Agree.
My dad has been in bands such as Resist And Exist, Autonomy, And is Currently in Litmus Green. Even though he's a total sell-out, all of those bands are still alive and kickin'.

As for Street Punk. I never really got into it, except bands like The Skeptix and what not. It really doesn't matter to me wither and subgenre is dying or not. Doesn't mean you can't call yourself one.

yeah, street punk is a lot smaller now then it was in the past. but it's still around. way more underground now. but its still around. not that many of you seem to be desperately searching for new sources of street punk. but if you do want to hear more check out.

Joe Pogo records - (new york label releasing many Japanese, European and American Street Punk acts)
The Bad Engrish - (from Denver)
Ponx Attax - (from St. Paul, Minnesota)
Dylan Shiv & the Shanks - (from Iowa with Members Of The Agrestix)
The Chernobyl Babies - (my Band from Grand rapids, MI)
Bad Co. Project - (new band from Oxymoron singer Sucker)
Cobra - (Japanese Oi!)
then alot of japanese bands like - The Discocks - Shit-faced - Pogo Machine - SA - One For All - The Erections . . .

the list goes on, it's still around it's just no longer the scene it used to be.

To me the style known as "street punk" was never anything more than fashion punk, and bored the hell out of me it all sounds the same. From what I have observed a lot of the rich kids that made street punk thrive have jumped ship, grown their spikes and mohawks into dreads and invaded the crust scene, since it's the "next big thing" (another genre in my opinion that is boring as fuck - though I do love a lot of crust bands, it just sounds all the same).

True street punk started as oi in England, it was music made by poor working class kids, who came from the streets. Unfortunately street punk evolved into the horrendous shit that the casual ties play.

In my opinion like what you want, be who you want, and don't let anyone tell you what is good or not, or what is dead or not.

I used to listen street punk then I realize how complete snobs and stupid they actually were. The gernal message of street punk is to be obnoixious, violent, drunk, high, and live on the streets. And if you aren't doing this you aren't a real punk. Like bands like this, newer street punk.

I just don't see how jumping off the grid is going to stand up for anarchy and shit. One, your so obnoxious and spiked out that you just draw attention to yourself, and then you have the cops and authorities breathing down your necks assholes.

If you so anti everything, how are you not against the cigarette and alcohol corporations? Your not caught in one picture without a marlboro in your mouth and a 40 in your hand.

Street punk is not anarchy, street punk is hedonism. and is focused on capriciousness and frivolousness. Tough it may be philosophical and they may see some beauty and exceitement in getting fucked up and sleeping on the corner in the city, once it becomes a routine you'll get bored. and it will be like everyday life, but with a ton of different pressures and shit you have to worry about like money, dangerous ppl on the streets, saftey, food, clothing in the winter, etc.

So really, you'd end up even more fucked up in the head. Any assholes can get drunk all the time ( me for example), it's just the difference between the asshole who can go home and his head down in a nice bed, and the asshole who's staying out their forever.

Any retard can smoke weed and piss off the cops, your just fucking yourself, especially if you are a snob about it and think you are better.

Basically that's my oppinion on what an actual STREET PUNK IS.

But the good thing is, at least they aren't producing capital or anything, yet they are consumers, better than cops.

BUt if your tlaking about punk out looking wokring class/middel class people than, i don't know what to say, because I've met one and they were as arrogant and mean as the next. If you don't look punk, then you can't be one of them.

But whatever, oppinion is just my experience.
