LOLwut? It's the lyrical content, silly. The grey area alluded to is libertarianism/anti-authoritarianism that isn't anti-state. If a band isn't anti-state, they aren't anarcho-punk, no matter how anti-capitalist, anti-racist, anti-sexist, etc. they are. Doesn't mean they aren't good. Just means they aren't as awesome as they could be.

Very good point .When the Pistols belted out "Anarchy for the UK " , was it ? Are Crass Hippies or Anarchists? Think it depends on what your interpretation of anarchy is. Anarchy , a handy catch all for anti-establisnment bands ? Think the later.

...Hmm? No one with respectable politics or knowledge of anarchist philosophy mistakes The Sex Pistols for anarchists, and anyone who thinks Crass wasn't anarchist isn't doin' much thinkin'. Anarcho-punk/peace punk has roots in Hippie culture at some level, yes. As much as I joke about hippies and get annoyed by the dogmatically pacifist ones, anarchists are somewhat related to hippies, if not pretty much a more radical, proactive breed of hippie.

I think there's a certain amount of subjectivity. When I hear Anarcho-Punk I think of a specific subgenre of punk, bands like Crass, Conflict, Discharge. However, there are a number of bands that echo Anarchist principles without explicitly labeling themselves Anarchist. Operation Ivy and Bad Religion, for example, express an essentially Anarchist outlook in their lyrics, but don't label themselves as such. So I guess the issue is whether or not there is a distinction between Anarcho-punk and Anarchist punks.

Again , it's what a person's interpretation is .Me , it's a political theory for how we get from capital to communist(communal ) way of life . For me, dropping out of the system and living a "hippy" lifestyle doesn't quite cut it . But that's just me .

I certainly hope you're not accusing me of supporting lifestylism or dropout culture. Regardless of what your particular politics are, contemporary anarchist CULTURE, at least that which I'm most familiar with, is at least somewhat related to the Hippie movement. Anarcho-punk most certainly is.

Not accusing of anything !!!More a critique of Crass . Surely anarchism pre dates the hippies?
Mabe anarchism has changed to what my idea of it is .I see it as Bukunins 'socialist' theory ;from capitalim to communist society (thinks; wonder if i've said this before). 'Sall .

dk's were esench anarcho, they begged the question but seemed to be lost in the mire of tools and american bollitix, as it was banned there for ? years, wat do peepz act like wen they can't read or without education, go ask a non fuckwit african

u r not, anarcho and not, it is for all like water; and it does not impose but it will also not stand idly stand by when freedom is being inhibited

bands that actually 'follow' the principles of anarchy r anarcho but anyone can be anarchist by nature at any given time, it is maleable and free, anarcho punks are punks who are anarcho
