hello my names James i live in Utah so if there are any more anti Mormon punks i thank thee. i find religion oppressive and revolting and mindlessly sexist. i love the caustiles crass anti flag and flux of pink Indians. i am just getting into being an anarchist and so i need some books or movies to watch to educate my self. we have a few punks at my school but most of them are emo punk. also i play guitar and sing. this last year i was almost suspended from school for waving a black flag while standing on top of a table in the lunch room so yeah that's james. also i come from a mod 60s back ground so if there are any anarcho psychedelic punk bands just give me names.

what exactly is an emo? (i don't know, i'm from an older generation and i don't go out and mingle much)
emo is a type of subculture thats sold out to the mainstream via hot topic and other stores like the ones we have here are are emo preps which makes me vomit inside and the only reason why they do it is to get attention emo in my opion is someone hurting themselves and listing to depressing music to make them selves feel better also emo is derived from the word emotional and they are very depressing.
i believe that emo doesnt exist... its something that the "coolkids" made-up to insult punk/goths to us punk and goths are totally different but to other ppl we're the same....they think we're depressed and we hate ourselves so we cut ourselves.... i think its bullshit...
i'm aware of the music that falls into the emo genre, though the only bands i ever liked which have tended to be classified as emo are Embrace and Sense Field... my question was more what does an emo person look like, act like that makes them such targets of disdain from people on this board?
no i think emos are emos becouse they are unhappy or just trying to be "cool". they have "the need" to hurt themselves and that makes them special. I think its bullshit and that emos must be "destroyed" and that people must help
Emos are suicidal because they're daddy never hugged them. Emos cut themselves because their girlfriend might break up with them if she finds out what a fucking whiner he is. Emos only get half their hair cut, so that the back is spiky and the front looks like Hitler's flick of hair falling over his face. Emos wear their sisters pants just 'cause they can't afford real skinny jeans. In short, emo is just a way for guys to act like girls...
Sexism is from, never really read the English Bible, but during the creation of man. It is stated that there would be no fwoman without man, no eve if it weren't for Adam and also no sin if it weren't for Eve who brought sin upon man. Fasting I never really understood why, but in the Bible it is said that Jesus was 'tempted' by Satan multiple times, wanting Jesus to bow before him so that he would give Jesus the world and riches... Can you believe that? As Christians say, the world was made by God, and Jesus is God's son. So how is it that the world made by Jesus/God is being offered to Jesus? I mean, what's this idiocy, it's like someone comes to your home and offers you your own home in return for obedience. More so is why do people all go bat-shit crazy when they actually accidentally eat a certain type of food during fasting. I mean, God never ordered them to stop eating, nor did he set a time like 'Before 12 o'clock eating is kill-able' they didn't even have watches back then. That's the chruch's doing. I don't know if it goes like that in the States though. "Remember, O man, that you are dust, and unto dust you shall return." Translation: You are a hopeless worm, never try to resist priests or the church for you have no future. Don't get me going on the Blind Following part... They even take pride when I point out that they are just sheep, no reason to follow that faith. They say that "They feel happiness and joy" my ass. I don't think of religion as anything more than a way to calm the public, brainwash, hope for after-life, and reassurance in times of dread like yoga I suppose. I can't give exact quotes because I used to read the Bible in Arabic. Edit: I forgot priests, oh my how privileged they are. Thinking they're a godsend with a holy 'invitation' from God himself. They have a car, followers, roof over their heads, assured food and water, LCD TVs, cellulars, computers, internet, money... Oh no, I'm not just talking about priests here, but monks. Our school was founded by Chrisitan monks, the ones that are currently in control of the school. They walk about freely, thinking they're just. The school 'boss/leader/owner' who is a monk has more luxuries and money than an average person trying to work while studying at that school. I thought they gave their lives away for God? I see no such thing. There's a quote by Jesus which I don't really know by words but I will try to paraphrase. 'You cannot worship two gods, money and god"
everyone keeps bitching that emos hurt themselves... but that seems hypocritical, as most punk i've known like to hurt themselves as well. (ive seen plenty of punks with words carved on their bodies and such as well. it sounds like you are using whatever justification u can muster up to hate them. Frankly i dont see a huge difference between them and punks. enlighten me please.
Basically it's about motive. Emo's cut to relieve the pain of living, that doesn't actually seem to exist. Running out of peanut butter could be justification for self-injury. Most punks are basically just that... young kids with an attitude problem. Not to say they can't be intelligent tho.
The main difference between punks and emos in attitude is that emos tend to be far more self centered. Punks usually tend to at least pretend that they don't care that much about themselves where as emos base there entire attitude off of the petty problems they create. Not to say that punks can't be the same way....
