It's fucked up how sex-obsessed and self-denying our culture is. People want women to dress provocatively, but if they engage in sexual activity they're "sluts."
That this is being embraced in children's clothes is a reflection of those fucked up values.
    1. Sex isn't bad
    2. Sex has a place
    3. That place is far from children's clothing
Fuck this clothing line and fuck purity rings.

It's a scam based off of the idea that wearing a ring will keep you a virgin. Good christian parents buy these rings for their kids (by the way all of them are made from silver or gold) in hopes of making them abstinent. thanks to the jonas bros i see them on some of the smaller children too including my niece, i mean REALLY what 12 yr old has such an extreme lack of self control that they have to wear a ring to remind them to be abstinent, why not the vow and just the ring then? Because there's money to be made off of it of course!

because her music is aimed at preteenage girls. Who want to be just like mariah carey, so she's setting a horible example for little girls everywhere who idolize her.

When i was 12 i was climbing trees, hung with the animals on the farm where i lived, and my bed was overflowing with stuffed animals... Never heard of the jonas bros eighter. Evil jewlererbrothers? You know if I didn't watch South Park I would have no idea who or what Jonas Brothers are... And I recommend that episode to all, if you haven't seen it, it's hilarious and talks about a lot of issues that have been brought up in this thread.

The funny thing is around here music is almost non existent on TV, the MTV hardly plays any music anymore and is absolutely boring except for South Park, and VH1 is stuck in the past (which doesn't have to be a bad thing). As most local channels don't really have top hits chart or more or less any contemporary music related programs I have more or less lost touch with popular music in the past few years. At the moment I have zero idea as to what is on top of the charts, and for example I have heard of Taylor Swift trough internet but have newer heard any of her music...

But to get to the topic of underage sexuality. I don't really like those pictures, but am of the opinion that children should be able to wear what they want. Having grown up in a country that never had very strict rules on censorship I've been able to watch a lot of stuff from an early age. Including porn and real life war footage and a lot of other stuff that us usually considered bad for children. Has that really affected me or my generation. The answer is no...

I think that way children will react has more to do with the whole society and not just images projected in the media. Is sex so bad? No it's not bad at all. There is a lot of fucked up stuff shown on prime time news everyday. It has more to do with the way American society works. Now I will get to the unpopular part of my rant... From personal experience, which has been confirmed by others there is a big communication gap between americans and rest of the world. This is hard to put into words but, there seems to be a kind of fear or a protective shell...

In my opinion if the society is more open about ideas, certain ideas can never get the level of popularity they do in a society that is high on censorship and christian morals. For example I've never seen hollywood films that deal with certain issues about family and child development, but I've seen French films that deal with such things and those were very mainstream... The film I would recommend to all is Betty Fisher et autre histoires (Betty Fisher and other stories in English). The movie was a major hit in France about 10 years ago and it questions the concept of a classical family...

There are other films that deal with growing up and sexuality in children, for example La luna y la teta...

The idea of letting children wear what they want is one thing, but you missed the point. I doubt the little sister was sitting at home bored and came up with the fantastic idea that she wants to design a lingerie line-up. The problem here is the father being an utter fuckwit, messing around with his daughters' lives. The sister was pushed into doing this, to further the Cyrus name.

To contrast, look at the Spears family. Having stoped watching TV a couple years ago all I know about them is through word-mouth, but Britney, who has been encouraged by her parents to be in show business since she was under 10 had a drug/alcohol problem, apparently shaved her ehad for no reason, but that's her thing, and has lost custody of her kids, I don't knwo what the deal is currently. Her younger sister was also encouraged into showbusiness, and I'm guessing using her sisters' fame and money got herself some crappy tween show. Then she got pregnant at 16 or 17.

These are just famous examples, but what is shoving this sort of behaviour, in the form of the news focussing on these "role-models" and saying shit like "hey this famous person wears this and behaves like this, you like the idea of being famous don't you? I mean look at this MTV show called "Cribs" " is going to do to a generation that is already being fucked over by the education system, and idolising strippers under the disguise of pop stars, as well as sexual deviant hip hop and rap. I realise my little rant is focussed on the US mainly, but US-American influence is getting everywhere, liek sand at the beach.

Bottom line: Encouraging this sort of shit ( You pointed out the Jonas Brothers episode, one I saw but can't remember toow ell, I prefer pre-season 10 South Park; do you remember the Paris Hilton episode? "Haha, Wendy is not a whore, she can't hang out with us") will spread horizontally amongst the age group. Hopefully this won't help lead to a future populated by undereducated teen mothers who in turn won't be much of a role model to their children.

    EDIT:

As for The Second Rape by Aus Rotten, look at this article about our shameful society
