Since Dezerter is one of my favourite bands I've decided to tell you all a story about their first album, this text is translated from a website which documments polish punk scene https://punkowastrona.wordpress.com/2022/04/01/historia-starej-kasety-3-dezerter-underground-out-of-poland/
This text was originally on the back of their first cassete

"It was the end of 1985. A Canadian band D.O.A played in Warsaw. We were on their great concert, met up with them and invited Joe Shithead for Dezerter's rehearsal. The very next day he appeared in our little shed and he was a little bit stunned. Our equipment was so weird to him that he could not belive that anyone can play anything on it. It was basically a bunch of junk. We had a long talk with Joe, about living in Poland and the bands situation. After our first recordings which we were able to do in 1983 Dezerter was an active target of state censorship which was in its prime state. Without permisson you were not allowed to record anything, you couldn't even enter the studio itself. Beside, there were so little music studios that it was hard to belive. When we thought that we have no future as a band and all we will be able to achieve is to play rehersals in obscure places, we came up with a crazy idea. On one summer's morning we went to Polish Radio One station. Thanks to passes made by our buddy "Piżmak", who worked at this establishment we were able to make our first illegal studio recordings. We managed to record 7 songs, with this the four songs that were recorded before in 1983 and live footage of our concert in Jarocin 1984 we've made our first album. Joe recevied all of the recordings that we've had and he promised that he will do something with it. When he came back from Poland he went to music labels in USA that could be interested. First one was Alternative Tentacles which was responsible for D.O.A; Dead Kennedys etc. But the lack of money caused by a lawsuit against Jello Biafra forced them to decline this offer. Eventually in the end of 1987 Maximum Rocknroll has agreed to publish our music.

Firslty the album was supposed to be named "Greatest Shits", but for reasons unkown to us it was changed to "Underground out of Poland". The art cover was also changed because the original was damaged during transit. Other then that it was a very plesant experience. Suddenly we started to be praised by others. USA - these three could shut everyone's mouth. The release of our album was supposed to be followed by our tour in North America, but it didin't happen because of ours issue with us missing our mandatory military service and also due to USA immigration policies. Once more our plans were shattered by people which had nothing to do with us and our music. But we had our album. No one could take it away from us.

    Songs:
Ku przyszłości, Spytaj milicjanta, Szara rzeczywistość oraz Wojna głupców – Registered in 1983 at Wawrzyszew studio.

Plakat, Nie ma zagrożenia, Niewolnik, Rebeliant, Kto?, XXI wiek, Szwindel –from Jarocin 84."

Postęp, Zatrute powietrze, Uległość, Zmiany, Polska złota młodzież, Urodziłem się 20 lat po wojnie, Dla zysku –recorded illegally in 1985 at Polish Radio Station One.

You can listen to it all here

Dezerter was the first Polish punk band I heard. Shit, I hate when record labels take their own liberty to change album titles, even if it is MRR.
