It's ok, I appologize for any insultments from my side as well. (aah, hallmark moment^^)

As an artist I can say I already don't have a tv at all, even less a flatscreen. I live as cheap as I can and I assure you there is not a lot of luxuries here. Today a few artists out of many can live very luxurious lives but most barely get by as it is and have other jobs to survive. I would love it if that other job could be for example growing food or doing something nice like that. Right now I study to get a loan to not have to have a 'real job' but earlier I have for example waited tables and cleaned the homes of borgeois assholes breathing down my neck while I clean their toilets. That would not be what I would have to do beside art in an anarchist society. I belive a lot of artists feel the same.

I don't say there can not be such thing as football, just that I think footballplayers can contribute to society in other ways as well. With sports today it in a way is as with arts; lots of people do it and love doing it but only a few get the money. This is the problem I have with it.

Speaking for my self, since my self really is the only one I can speak for, I do not find it morally defencible to buy flatscreens, big cars (or any car really), or any other purely luxurities whilest others are hungry and have nowhere to live. Even if I would (before the revoulution of cause) become utterly successful as an artist and get a shitload of money from it, I would not live much more luxorious than today. I would probably buy more fresh vegetables and see to that I would have a place to live (now I don't know where to stay in a few months).

So that was a long answer to the question. The short answer: Yes I would.

Football would probably be the sport that wouldn't die because it's the most largely played sport in the world, it's basically culture.
You do mean futbol (soccer) right?

I don't think that the money they make equals the money they deserve. Football (Soccer) players are the highest paid athletes on the planet ...players like Ronaldo, Kaka, and Messi make more money than some third world countries and that just isn't Human. Do you agree that these men are worth more than the thousands of people that could eat and be sheltered with the obscene money they hoarde for themselves? Anarchism isn't about abolishing sports, but professional's should be only that and only earn a living like the rest of the workers.

In an anarchist society, I'd imagine sports would become more of a hobby then a profession. For example, I'm a student, but I join local Wrestling clubs for fun and love of the sport, and i sure as shit don't get paid. And there wouldn't be anyone stopping me from starting my own club, and that goes for all sports.

I wouldn't go as far as to say art would become purely entertainment, more as a form of self-expression. Obviously, it wouldn't be very political, following the non-existance of politics :p

I was just thinking about the music in an anarchist society today. Would the more "rebelious" people listen to fascist music? q: haha more of a joke than a serious question but i can for some reason see that being a possibility.

No, I don't believe in that at all. I was talking about as a culture, soccer would be the last to go

Haha Hallmark indeed, maybe a card is in order? =)

Sorry for the long absence, I was out of town with some acquaintances for a few days. To me it is valuable that someone like you can live like that without asking more, just being happy doing what he likes (wish I was that lucky... haven't even found what I want to do with this shitty life yet) but sadly most people in the world don't think like that, they just want more and more and see nothing wrong with it, not realizing that greed will take control of them one day and will never stop consuming till they own everything while leaving others with nothing. Those people will NEVER change their minds and honestly I don't care about how good "the cause" is I'd never shoot nor kill anyone just to achieve a perfect world, it would still be bathed in blood.

There is one thing though, people die. They die and leave descendants (in most cases). Those descendants don't neccesarily have to be or think just like their ancestors. Maybe, just maybe they will turn out to be more open minded and end up having the same views most of you do here. I know this is stupid, but I for one am willing to wait and see what happens.

As for football, I have to admit I watch the world cup whether my country's soccer team is playing in it or not, still I think it needs either stop wasting so much money or just completely stop. I wouldn't miss it a bit.

When mentioning sports, maybe we need to look backwards in time... All the way to something that is the ancient forefather of modern sports... The ancient Greece. Unlike what was thought in the 19th century most athletes in the ancient Olympics weren't professionals or people that came from privileged backgrounds. In most cases they were lumberjacks, carpenters, fishermen and such people that learned to be tough from from a very early age. However those that were successful, managed to raise above their social status and in turn become officially sponsored by their city states, thus becoming somewhat of a professional athlete.

Now to go to the next stage of my post. I have a hard time calling myself an anarchist. I personally think that current capitalist system can't hold up for much longer. And when it falls apart it won't be pretty. The society either has to go undergo a complete change or die off. I envision future society as a society of smaller communities that will live and operate in a much more sustainable manner and relay on a technology that is quite different from the one widely used today. This is opinion is quite different from those of anarcho-syndicalists, that and some other personal experiences have made me distance myself from the mainstream anarchist movement...

Anyway, to get to the point what I wanted to say. In any society there will be people that are more athletically gifted and if their local community wanted to support them and have them train twice as hard instead of working on producing food or whatever it would be their own choice. Maybe periodically give them time off to prepare for bigger competitions. Humans are competitive by their nature, as is all life and sports competitions won't go away no matter what the future society is like...

If I could figure out how to put up a picture here I would do that as a card, for now this will have to do: a virtual beer!
It took me a long time to find what i wanted to do, but eventually I did. Hope you will too, as well as everyone else. Not many people would see me as lucky, since I don't have a lot of anything really. I have had jobs and worked my ass off to buy shit (not that it was well payed but it was more than I have now) but back then I was really fucking misserable, so I have seen for myself that material things is not what I need. It sounds cliché but it's true. I certainly do still want some stuff but I don't really miss anything as long as I have the most neccesary things like food and clothes and somewhere to live.
You're right, hopefully more people will in the future be more like us here^^

i don't know what the world's football (soccer) players make, but here in the states the most guilty of all sports organizations are the New York Yankees. serioulsy, i don't know of any other non government organization in any aspect of the world that epitomizes greed the way they do.

Yeah, instead of just soccer I should have written "any major sport that's sucking away money like it was blood".
