For almost more than a year, pandemic restrictions have closed gigs, clubs, and other places to hang out. How did this change your perspective on freedom, and will you manage to be the pre-pandemic version of yourself?

I grew to really not like people because I was stuck with my abusive parents and also the fucked up shit that got brought to light. Pre-pandemic me is going to be a more curmudgeonly version of CM Punk

Sorry for the small rant ahead xD

The pandemic was horrible. I didn't get to go to any shows either of local or well known bands (I live in Greece). I was constantly angry because I couldn't hang out with my friends, I was stuck at home due to highly unnecessary, almost dictatorial quarantine measures (at one point we couldn't leave our houses after 6 in the afternoon!). I saw people getting beaten up and unlawfully arrested by cops who used the virus as an excuse for their fascist ways.

On the other hand, it gave me the free time to learn guitar. I also discovered crust punk, through buying my guitar from a guy who had a band here in Athens, who gave me his old 7-inch. I fell in love with this type of music, which helped me through some fucked up times. I also got way more radicalized politically (I was before as well but ya) which is a positive.

so even though I really hate it and my social life was fucked, I admit that it also helped me a bit.

I'm introverted and (during the pandemic) unemployed so nothing changed at all for me. It's still exactly like during the pandemic for me, since my part time job is mostly done from home (web stuff).

It's friday today and the number of people I've interacted with this week in any form at all is 2. My girlfriend (we live together) and the man behind the counter in the grocery store.

Interesting fact: I actually looked this up a while ago and there was a study / poll or whatever done and it said that most people i.e. over 50% actually consider themselves to be introverted! Of course there are varying degrees of introversion but still, it kinda surprised me.

My router packed up just as the lockdown and all non-essential shops were closed so I was without internet for the duration. During that time video games were a life saver for me. I was also unemployed. And as pharmacies were considered essential and remained open I slipped back into an old habit of mine (codeine+ephedrine) that I've since managed to kick again for the most part.

Sure, there are degrees of all psychological things. Then again, I'm kind of tired of all the "I'm introverted", "things introverts relate to" etc, people desperately need somewhere to belong, they even go with things like that. :D When I say I'm introverted I mostly mean the combination of two things - 1) that I enjoy being on my own and don't feel the need to talk to someone for long periods of time and 2) that I lose energy at a rapid pace being around people, it's a constant effort that drains me to no end. This, to me, feels more like something defining rather than something as common as prefering texts over phonecalls and sometimes planning to do nothing at all over the weekend (and all the other things "introverted memes" talk about).

Oh okay, hehe, I've never gone that far as to delve into that kind of stuff like ""things introverts relate to" etc", maybe because being an introvert myself I already know what I relate to and also cos I just don't care. But I was interested to find out the approximate ratio of introvert / extrovert on this planet. I've never thought of it as an "us" vs. "them" phenomenon. More like we complement each other and the world is richer for it. I also enjoy being on my own sometimes and I find some people draining I find being around extravert/s brings me out of my shell so I do enjoy that too to an extent. One of my friends he never stops talking and that's kind of annoying at times, especially when for example me and my little group of friends go to the forest (or somewhere in nature) and we wanna enjoy the serenity for a bit and then this guy keeps yapping away lol (I'm being mean, but yeah :)).

Yeah I find the "things introverts relate to" memes kind of stupid too. It's fine if it is taken lightheartedly as a joke, but when it starts been taken seriously it is really annoying. There is no one thing that defines "introvert". Yes there are people that are more introverted than others but you cannot simply put them in a giant category with specific characteristics. Every person is different.
