    - How and when did you become a punk?
In 1985 I was 15 and I was a huge fan of Siouxsie and the Banshees so I wore black, teased my hair, and pretty much doused myself in patchouli and I felt very edgy.
In 1986 my mother had enough and made me sit down so she could cut my hair, which she did, in spite of my protests. The result was a haircut that made me look like a mental patient who cut their own hair.
A few days later, when my mom wasn't home, I decided to turn that haircut into a mohawk. I was totally clueless about what punk was all about, but I knew that my mom wouldn't give me another haircut because surely she wouldn't want a skinhead in the family. :D

    - What influenced you?
Aside from my mom mutilating my hair? I lived in Amsterdam in the early 80s, and there were several riots surrounding squats there, one of the most notorious ones was known as the "Vondelrellen", these riots took place literally down the street from me and I could see them from my window. This affected me greatly and I remember playing squatters and SWAT team at school where I would always be a squatter. These were actually my heroes.

    - What is the first bands you discovered?
Not counting Siouxsie and the Banshees (which I always considered new wave/darkwave and not punk) I would have to say that the first punk bands that I got into were the ones that had mainstream Top-40 hits radio. But after I got my first mohawk, I would say that the Varukers and Poison Idea were the first bands that I was crazy about. I did like the Pistols, but more from a historical perspective if that makes any sense.
Friends liked Dead Kennedys, and because I was a stupid teen and thought that I could be liked if I liked what they liked, I claimed for the longest time that I was a DK fan. I don't hate DK, but I rarely just play it for my enjoyment.

    - When and how did you become more anarcho?
I am not entirely sure that I am anarcho. I hold views and opinions which have an overlap with anarchism, but there's also an overlap with socialism and... and stuff that I don't even have a name for. I do know that in my early years I thought that anarchism is the mere rejection of all kinds of leadership and authority, but of course, I have learned that there is much more to it than that.

I hope this long story made for an entertaining read :)
