    Well,

Is there place for sports in an anarchist world? Let's just pretend you all succeed and the world is a paradise with no more capitalism on it. What would be the incentive for sportspeople and athletes to keep doing what they like? How could they spend time training and doing the stuff they like AND living on a decent home with decent technology and such if they're supposed to collaborate on a permaculture farm or fixing the solar kitchen and such...?

Same goes for people whose job is to work with their brains... As far as I know in anarchism we all need to work with our hands right? I have no problems with that but what about those that just can't do it? Will they have the same things everyone else does?.

And finally... Art is free for everyone now... Would its purpose be solely for entertainment? to teach "culture"? what would happen with all the stuff such as silly Sitcoms and Talk shows?.

    Well that's all... for now.

Personally I don't think there's any need to remove any of the jobs that we have now, once anarchy sets in. With the exception of political and other authoritarian jobs of course.

Is art free for everyone now?! How so? That of cos explains why i, who am an artist, have a hard fucking time getting by...
About sportspeople i really don't see the problem. How do they do it now? Or are you talking about professional athletes now? That they should get payed ridiculous amounts of money for chasing a ball around? If they like it they will do it anyway but they don't have to only do that.
And let's say in an anarchist society there would be no silly sitcoms... Would that really be such a bad thing that we should just throw anarchism overboard and hail capitalism?

Good thing you're perfect. If this was not an anarchist forum I'd be compelled to belive you in some way were saying you somehow are superior to me, but since this IS an anarcist forum that could never happen. Right?

I am an artist and as an artist I realize that art visual and otherwise is one of the driving forces behind any society. If I cannot be an artist and in an anarchist society then this isn't my revolution q:

Art and anarchism has historically always been very closely connected so there is really no reason to why you or me or anyone else should not be able to keep being artists in an anarchist society. Anarchistic art is important in the revolution and after it as well.
A big part of the artistic evolution during late 1800s and early 1900s were due to anarchistic artists being fed up not only with the capitalistic society but also with the arts being elitistic and only able to survive because of the borgeois who ordered artists to paint what they wanted to have on their walls and decide how it should be done. Surealism and futurism came to be thanks to anarchist artists, and it's thanks to them and others like them, that we today are as free as we are in expressing ourselves artistically.
So yes, this is very much your revolution!

I couldn't agree with you more. Art history and anarchism overlap directly with surrealists like Andre Breton who although was not an artist but who, founded surrealism and was a self proclaimed anarchist. Or futurists like Carlo Carra who created art to combat the fascist leanings of his fellow futurists and then we have the entire anti art movement which you brought up. I seriously can only imagine a society without art as a profession as an absolute dystopia. And what leads Bookmstick to believe I can't help build a solar kitchen on Wednesday and work in pen and ink on Thursday? As far as sports go, I don't like most sports much at all but I don't plan on robbing anyone from there passion if it is constructive and overall harmless. So if a basketball player loves the sport of basketball. Then he will play basketball.

I used to live in a house with a big garden and there I grew vegetables and herbs etc, but I also drew and painted. It worked really well. The basketball players certainly could do something else then to play ball too. Well, at least there are two of us that can create and contribute in more ways than one :D
Not an anrchist but a comunist so it's a little bit of topic, but I still gotta bring it up; Diego Rivera. Of cause he was a real creep in many ways but I love how he painted in Lenin in that mural in Rockefeller Center!
What kind of art do you do?

Ah I just discovered Rivera's work a while ago and I share your love for him.And as far as my art I dabble in everything 2D but I mostly work in pencil and the subject matter usually has to do with my fascination with the human face (distorting it really) and my fascination with dystopias so along with my distorted faces I make a brand of dystopian realism to affix myself. I'm currently working on a mixed media about mans cataclysm with nature. How ever my roots are in graffiti so I mess around with that on occasion as well. What sort of art do you do?

As far as sports, there really is no real need for professional sport in the world is there? People would still be free to train in their own free time and to compete if they chose to do so... Probably would mean that some stuff like tennis would lose it's popularity and that some sports that don't have a big media coverage at the moment would flourish like wrestling...

Same with science, some super expensive research might be a problem but you will still have time to do your research and expand on previous knowledge...

Sounds very interesting! Do you have a homepage or something where i can see some of your stuff?
(i only have a deviantart with too old stuff to show...)
I do a little bit of everything but i've given up on painting with a brush - i just hate that. Mostly i draw, right now i'm doing some drawings from pictures i took in Copenhagen during the demonstrations. I'm also into graffiti and for some reason spraying on a wall is the most fun there is! Do some stencils too, they so well combine the drawing and graffiti. Have done some stickers and wheatpasting, wich i also really like.
Even if i want to be able to sell some stuff to be able to pay my rent and eat (have only sold two works yet so to be able to do tose things i go to an artschool), I like to spread my work in the sreets so I do a little of each.
Have a couple of video projects on the side as well.

A little off topic guys but if you liked Rivera, You will love Siqueiros..who was an active Anarcho-Communist and was even involved in the murder of a certain traitor to the Soviets in Mexico... but aside all that his art is fucking phenomenal, check it

No I am not perfect but I thought I made it pretty clear the context of the stuff I was saying, sorry for being insulting.

As for the topic, so art and anarchy go hand to hand, do you think artists would like to live on a anarchist world where they'd be living only on basic stuff? (I don't suppose people can have TIVO's or flatscreen TV's on an anarchist world right?) Would they be willing to drop all the luxuries (exotic food, expensive houses, etc) they can get with their art? Would you?.

As for sports, would it really be bad if football continued to be the "king sport" (that's what they call it in my country) for the masses? Does it necessarily have to die? Wouldn't that be restrictive to people who want to keep playing it and living a good life at the same time?.
