    Hey all,

Full context: I'm a developer and tinkerer by trade. I'm interested in how I can lend these skills to my live shows.

Has anyone got fun ways they've seen people make a spectacle on stage? I've been thinking around audio visualisation stuff. This is easiest when a venue has a projector; but let's be honest - I'm playing the toilet circuit.

That in mind, what are some diy, portable visuals you could use to make an impression on stage?

Hoping that this becomes a nice way to share ideas about how to give our live shows some staying power. I don't know about where you are but here in London playing live is fucking desperate.

Hey Gaffen, going to ask my friend Craig Honby if I can put you in touch with him, he runs all the audio/visual stuff for Antisect's live performances, and he's in England, maybe if he consents to putting you in touch he can either give you some pointers or maybe even collaborate. Is that something you're interested in?

    Mate that's awesome.

Full disclosure; I'd like to get out of web development and more into audio visual; potential collaboration is something I'd be all over :D

No worries if not, but I just thought I'd check in and see if you ever heard back on this?

Sorry Gaffen he pretty much ignored me, don't know the reason, we were supposed to meet up in Mexico City at a fest we were playing with Antisect this year and he was excited about it, then I left that band just as Covid happened. My apologies.

You know what I think, transforming the ambient of the event can create cool outcomes, I have always whanted to fill a parking lot with sand and place some Palm trees (maybe fake palm trees) and do a ska punk concert...

Cracked me up, we played with Risttetyt, and another time with Los Crudos at a huge sports bar in Tijuana just like that, complete with beach volleyball court.. and drunk punks passed out in the sand...

Yeah, these big ideas are awesome! I think creating ambience really helps draw your audience in and helps you connect with them.

Thing is I'm really looking for something I can carry around in a rucksack; small inventment and form factor for a big output.

Easiest thing I can think of is a projector, but I worry it relies too much on the venue and lighting conditions.

I've been thinking about the idea of soldering together some LED arrays - as long as you're in low light conditions they could be pretty good. Though I'd need to think about collapsibility in order to transport them in my gig bag.

I've heard of guys who take a screenprinting setup with them to shows so they can print shirts for people right after the concert. I think it's an awesome idea - but I think the mess of it discounts it from my idea pool for now. (At this time I don't drive but am looking to work on it post covid)

Nice - I've not really played a proper festival yet. Would really like to though! looks like it was pretty awesome!

"Pa Ke No Toke Lo Peor"... So that it doesn't play the worst? I'm learning Spanish but I don't get a lot of hands on practice lol.

Yeah, I'm trying to explore the London scene at the moment to find people to work with. Not the easiest now Covid has happened but we'll see how I can still work out releasing an album this year DX

Yeah, fundamentally I think reaching other people is to create an event that brings people together - it's why arranging your own festival is such an awesome idea. Did I hear that you arranged it in an unused park?

Hi it refered to dual meaning, so that the worst does not have to play, or so the worst des not have to happen.

That park used to be under used, so one of the members of the network dealt with the local entity ang got the permits, take a look a this one it was like the first one we arranged in a parking lot:

That was called Kaoz en la Izla (chaos in the island) the idea was to have punk, metal regge and hip hop... but only the punk bands showed up jejej at that time the genera barrier was tall in bogota. It was a cool gig still, very underground :)
