There's been a discussion of this already and I agree wholeheartedly, though I'm basically already in a position where the use and owning of marijuana and hashish is condoned...
Going into other drugs as well, I personally think it would be better for everyone if XTC pills would be produced legally by licensed manufacturers so that we don't find rat poison or something in them again. Who knows wtf is in there atm.

Haha i'm intrigued as to know why?
As for the pills issue I totally agree... that could also mean less people of the messy variety taking less sketchy research chemicals. Saying that I found some really good ones on new years haha

You should probably take a quick look at the punks and hard drugs forum, here's my two cents

"People say that pot is a "gateway" drug and it leads to everything else, but that's not true. The main reason I've found that people do harder drugs after smoking pot is because of the scene people get into. I mean, usually when you smoke pot, you light up with scetchy people...well like half the time, and you sort of become who you hang out with, just like with any other thing. So if you're illegaly buying pot, why not illegaly buy coke, or illegaly buy shrooms or heroin etc etc

All I'm saying is that if it was legal, there would be a lot less exposure to the other drugs, the drugs that kill.

Oh and kind of unrelated http://maps.org/"

Yeah still getting used to the whole forum thing.
Unfortunately your right about that, But that is assuming people who take said drugs take them in excess which would be hard to control without sufficient research and testing (on humans I must add) but it would be possible

I think it's mostly a legality issue, and the only reason it's not legal is because the governments like to group people around it as "troubled" or some bullshit, so when they lock em up, they can look good, and show what a "great job" they're doing with the world, while shifting attention away from their corruption and lies.

At least legalize Marijuana, it doesn't hurt anyone.

From "How to grow medical marijuana" by Todd McCormick:
Annual drug and alcohol deaths in the united states:
    Tobacco: 450000
    Alcohol: 100000
    Prescriptions: 100000
    Aspirin: 1000
    Marijuana: 0

To take into consideration should also be all the good it does, not just the bad it doesn't do.

According to the episode of BBC's If and the associated, televised debate following it one of the primary reasons marijuana is illegal in most countries is because it wasn't readily available in the time all other drug laws came into existence (i.e. alcohol and tabacco).
Might I add that there's a lot of other substances that are fun to use and are not necessarily illegal to obtain, though a larger element of risk is involved for most of them :p

It was so available, people has been smoking it for thousands of years. They are so wrong. Typically media. I think it's illegal cos if it weren't a lot more people would smoke and then they would be way happier than they are now, and then they wouldn't buy as much. It's all a part of the big comercialist conspiracy.
I don't know how it's in other countries but here it's illegal to pick halucinogenic mushrooms. Stupid. Not that that stops anyone, it's just a stupid law amongst many.

Over here it's legal to sell shrooms, as long as they are 'fresh' and not 'dried', but there is no clear guideline as to whether they are 'fresh' or 'dried'...
Also it's legal to sell salvia here, which if I remember correctly is an extract from a certain cactus, again a hallucinogenic or psychedelic drug if you will, but it's effects are a lot less durable than shrooms.
Laughing gas as of yet isn't illegal in Holland either, so long as you buy cartridges instead of filled balloons (though there's a risk of lack of oxygen in the brain or everywhere if you use it too often in succession and flash freezing of lips, lungs, mouth and vocal chords if you inhale directly from the cartridge or canister).

Though if you consider using anything you're not accustomed and don't know exactly what it does I suggest going to someone you know and trust who HAS used it. Ask him/her to explain what it does, what the risks are and if (s)he can keep an eye on you, in other words... they stay off the stuff, while you try it.
I also suggest reading up a bit on the stuff BEFORE using it, I didn't do it a couple of times and have gotten mighty sick as one result and nearly OD'ed on a couple other occasions.
Also do NOT combine stuff without doing some background checking first. I love me my drugs, but not enough to die from them or sustain severe, permanent damage to myself.

You live in the right country, man!
For some reason i usually wind up being the one looking after others and getting nothing for myself. Usually... You are so right about not being alone trying stuff, when i did i got so freakishly paranoid and that was just something i had gotten on a perscription to be able to calm down and get som e sleep!
Also, take care and don't die ;)

Wasn't planning to for the time being... lol
I made a promise to my best friend at the time that I wouldn't kill myself deliberately and 2 days later she slit her wrists, so I'm not going anywhere any time soon, methinks ;)
Anyway, best way to teach most of the younger kids that I come across over here is just to say be careful what you're doing, you don't want to end up like me: no education, no cash, no job and still living with your parents at age 23, 'cause you blow all your cash on any possible drug (mostly nicotine and alcohol)

the only reason any sort of drug aside from alcohol and tobacoo are illegal is so that figureheads in multi-national corporations and the president and his advisors can keep being the ultimate pusher behind closed doors. As long as they protect heroin and coca production and make it available to "drug dealers" through one avenue or another, then they have the power to make the money, and jail the "dealer" AND the user, sucessfully taking any focus away from themselves and what is actually going on. It just money and power for lower-level officials, because we all know the president of the US or the Queen isn't really the top dog. Just another puppet taking orders from a much more powerful force.

i disagree with topic title. excessive use tends to make people lazy burnouts. As someone who believes in activism, i see it as a major obstacle and distraction. I'm all for legalizing it, but just like anything else, excessive use is lame.

Ok, some people become lazy burnouts but not everyone. It can be very helpful for the creativity. Although that depends on so much, like what kind it is and in what situation you smoke it.

yeah shrooms are great, if u like permanent damage to your brain cells. talk to someone who excessively has used shrooms over years and years and see if you still feel the same way.
