Just curious, where do you find out about what's going on in the world?
I can't stand to watch the local news station, wondering what the best alternative is.

Personally I read the Guardian, it's a mainstream newspaper but it's not as full of propaganda as the rest.

I don't. I dunno what the fuck is going on in the world, apart from a few stories I might pick up on here.

Yeah. I used to keep up with news, but you know, shit, more shit, then still more shit. Only so much you can take.

I get the news from a variety of sources. In the morning, getting ready for work, I turn on the local ABC affiliate for local news, weather, traffic and breaking news that may have happened over night. I'm out the door before the annoyingly awful national morning news/talk shows start. On the drive to work I tune the radio to the local NPR station. I have a subscription from The Houston Chronicle newspaper and flip through it when I get to work. Throughout the day when I have time I check the usual aggregate of Yahoo and MSN news home pages for additional stories that may have gone unnoticed from the bigger headlines. I have a subscription to the bimonthly Mother Jones magazine. If I get home early I like to watch the early evening news on ABC, NBC or CBS (when the antennae picks it up) sandwiched between the local news. When I'm getting ready to fall asleep in bed I watch some of the various YouTube "independent" "progressive" news channels on my phone, namely stuff like The Young Turks and stuff like that. I am starting to get tired of the millennial whining, though. On Sunday mornings I watch Meet the Press on NBC (or when the antennae works to get CBS's Face the Nation) and then flip over to This Week on ABC, even though the corporate establishment from the hosts and usually the panels is grating. The local PBS station is sometimes on when I just want to watch straight news without commentary like on debates or such. A favorite program I used to watch but always seem to forget to watch now is Frontline for great investigative journalism. I won't pay for cable television so don't watch the 24 hour news programs that are on there and don't post on social media to get the fake news that is apparently rampant there.

I can hardly believe that punks who label themselves as 'political' are commonly willfully ignorant on current news sources. It isn't that I religiously watch, read or listen to everything every single day but I like to stay informed on the world happening around me. Especially in these uncharted and trying times where things are moving fast.

I get the majority of my news from a few level-headed youtubers. At least I think they're level-headed, anyway.
