I like them as I love all animals, but unfortunately I'm highly allergic to cat hair which sucks.

Totally a catperson here. I have one named Sluggo, a black and white 8 kilo slugger. Always beats the shit out of other cats^^ Used to live in a house in the woods where he could go in and out as he pleased but now I live in a tiny appartment in the projects and he was so bored here he got to move to my mom in the country. She is quite pleased with that, since i now visit her a bit more often...

    Domestic cats = vermin.

Genetically modified freaks of nature that do nothing except decimate the local native wildlife population and shit in your garden.

The carbon footprint of a pet cat is not insignificant either. And, according to the World Wildlife Fund, the average American cat eats more fish each year than the average African human.

I don't kick 'em and I don't eat 'em, but I wouldn't mourn their removal from the planet one little bit. I am in favour of the neutering of all domesticated animals until they become extinct (see 'Fettered Kingdoms' by John Bryant for a detailed examination of this issue).

Until then, we have a duty of care for the creatures we've created to fill our own needs. That duty of care includes no more breeding, minimising their carbon footprint, minimising their impact on the ecosystem and minimising their use of food and other valuable resources!

...and Sluggo is neutered. Also i wouldn't buy a pet but when someone has a lovely little kitten and says if i don't take it they'll have to kill it, well then i do find it my obligation to take care of that cat as good as i can. The same way i got a turtle that i took care of for some years.
    And cats are totally anarchists!

my cat Butters is spayed and my other cat Bobby Panda is neutered. Both adopted from shelters. I dont declaw that just seems beyond cruel to me.

Yeah, why does anyone declaw? Way cruel, plus i just don't see the point in it. Like cutting the tail of a dog a bit, ain't it?

I love my kitty Tasha she is crazy as fuck. But my view on domestic pets is pretty much the same as Old Punk's. I think that all breeders should be boycotted, I would never buy a cat or a dog from a pet shop. All of the cats I have ever had I got for free from people or took in a stray from a farm.

One thing I would like to point out, though stray cats can be a problem, they also can help to keep the rodent population down in both cities an farms, which can help the spread of disease.

On being declawed, when you declaw a cat it is like removing up to the first knuckle on your finger... to me that alone is inhumane, but also if you cat does get out of your house for some reason, why would you deny it it's self defense? Neutering and spaying as much as I don't like it because of the pain it causes, but it is a good idea because of the overpopulation issue that we have (so on that note I am not totally against the spay and neutering of humans either).

That's not just cruel then, that's fucking evil!
Also, cats like being outdoors so i think one should if possible give them that possibility.
Although i feel sad for the rats and mice you have a point in that it's a good thing the cats keep the rodentpopulation down. If they just wouldn't drag halfdead rats inside...
My hardcore cat for a while seemed to think micehunting was for weaklings, and instead he killed snakes. Worked out ok most times but some of them were poisonous and we had many trips to the vet that summer.
Neutering of humans have historical been far from ok most of the time since people could get "cut" for thinking different then most so like that it's so not ok. In some cases though... i see you'r point.
