Johnny Hobo And The Freight Trains Biography

    WEBSITE
Johnny Hobo and the Freight Trains consisted of songwriter Pat the Bunny on guitar and vocals, Jeff-Face on harmonica and vocals, Flash-C on trumpet, Ian Skumfuk on washtub bass and vocals, Roman on bicycle and vocals, and Rockstar Mike on washboard, bass drum, and vocals. Often at shows, it would just be Pat and his acoustic guitar and sometimes harmonica; other musicians would often join from outside the usual lineup. Alcohol, drug use, politics, and the punk scene were common themes in Johnny Hobo songs.

    Band members: Pat Schneeweis
    ---

Johnny Hobo and the Freight Trains were a nihilistic folk-punk band from southern Vermont. They didn't hop freight trains. They did like to drink forties by the train tracks where the police wouldn't bother them. Most shows were a solo acoustic performance, but the full band at various times included Flash-C (trumpet), Ian Skumfuck (washtub bass), Jeff-face (harmonica), Roman (bicycle), Michael Jordan (drums), & Wyatt (harmonica).

The last show was in 2007. There is no source to order physical copies of Johnny Hobo and the Freight Trains music, but a variety of online torrents and other pirated sources are available. The band has given full support to pirating Johnny Hobo music, and any other music you want.

Lead songwriter Pat "The Bunny" (Pat Schneeweis) went on to play similar music with less destructive lyrical content in Wingnut Dishwashers Union, until entering rehab for drug addiction in late 2009. After getting out of the year-long rehab program, Schneeweis provided vocals, lyrics and guitar for the Tucson-based folk-punk band Ramshackle Glory as well as releasing music solo as Pat the Bunny before leaving the band and anarcho-punk scene.

Label - Spare Change Records (3)

As per the label's old Wordpress site:

"Spare Change Records is a criminally cheap CD-R record label run by Pat The Bunny (of Wingnut Dishwashers Union and Johnny Hobo and the Freight Trains). I have operated a label called “Spare Change Records” longer than my rivals in the shitty hardcore scene (http://www.sparechangerecords.com), but I will concede that people have probably been actually buying music from their label for longer than mine, as the first two years of operation was run at a 100% loss, with every CD given away.

I put out music I love by people I love and sell it on CD-R. Everything is sold on a sliding scale. Most items are a suggested $2 through the mail (or $1 when bought in person). You know those television ads for local businesses where the owner rants about how he must be INSANE to drop prices so low? Well, I’m the real deal. I’m outta my fucking mind, and I’m either going to sell you a CD or come through that computer and knife you in the face."
